    Hello truckersreport.

I have been driving Class A since 2003 and got off the road in 2014. I let my CDL basically expire, and just recently got my CDL back by doing a refresher course at a local CDL school.

I am now on the hunt and looking for a company that will take me in.

I have driven for companies like Martin Brower, Mclane and Garelick throughout my years.

I know I have to start from the bottom and I'm ok with that.

Wondering if anyone knows of any good companies hiring regional out of Newark NJ or the surrounding areas?

Contacted these guys just now. They aren't taking new drivers at the moment, asking for 6 months reference as a driver. I'm trying to stay away from the food services industry for good, those jobs mentioned I worked for basically gave me somewhat of a back issue. Never again no matter how good the pay was/is.

I've done the foodservice stuff and you're right; hard on the back.

Old Dominion linehaul is good if there are any openings. You qualify for that if you have all the endorsements.

Does it have to be regional, because there are all kinds of local jobs around here. Intermodal, port/drayage, LTL, among others.

    Doesn't have to be.

I am in the midst of getting all my endorsements now since I had to start all over.

Right now I'm studying for tankers, doubles and triples while doing that I will be going to get finger printed to also get my hazmat and twic.

I'm sitting on a plain CDL A at the moment.

I should have at least Tankers and D&T by 2 weeks.

Not sure how long finger prints take now, as I recalled I got them back in a month.

If you are getting the HazMat endorsement for the first time, even if you already have a CDL, you need to complete the hazmat ELDT before taking the exam.
