one problem that people have in when the application says "have you ever". some people think this means in the last 5 years or so. It means what it says. if you did something 20 years ago you have to tell them. if they find out they can say you lied on your application. I told them about something I did in 1981, it got me a sealed record, but they still asked me about it and had me talk with safty. If I didn't tell them I might not have had a job now.
If they admit that they are sending you home for an arrest...smile and find an ambulance chaser. Somehow I doubt that they would be that foolish.
i did work for swift and thay are not what thay say u are a number not a name u cannot idel the truck when its hot or cold outside and thay want u to sleep in a truck stop and not in the truck thay are saving money for them selfs and also thay are in 9 mill in the hole thay also get money from the gov for schooling as well i had to take a refecher the school in millington tn.SUCKS student where asking me for help ive had a class a for 3 years . well go to jb or snider thay are more driver happy not money hungy SWIFT CAN KISS MY BUTTTT
Funny, when I was there, my DM knew me by voice and as soon as he picked up the phone and heard me, he had my info on his computer screen. He never called me by my truck or driver number....and none of the others at my home terminal did either. In fact, after I built a rapport with various terminals, they never asked for numbers from me. I'm sorry you had a bad experience. I was rarely happy with Decatur, Greer or Memphis yards. But I wasn't at them very much either.
Welcome to trucking. Don't like being treated like a number? go get a job swinging a hammer for 10 - 12 hours a day for 10 bucks an hour. been there done that. For the past 4 1/2 years Ive been driving a 10 wheel dump with no heat, no air, next to no benefits, and a boss that wants you to run till you drop. Why do this you may ask? I'm also a single parent, going OTR has not been an option till now. I'm not going into this blind, I've been out and talked to drivers, I have been a member of this forum for better than two years and have read all the posts I could find, on all the companies I could find them on. after doing my research, I made the decision that Swift was the best option for me to start my OTR career. Its not a perfect fit, but from my research, its the best fit for me, for right now. I hope you find all that your looking for over at J.B. hunt or Shnieder but from what Ive heard and read, your comparing apples to... well, apples
well billboowilsonn, thanks for such a positive response. i'm glad you decided to let all that anger out in your first post and on the thread i started. i am pretty sure this thread had nothing to do with what you posted about. if you want to be negative try a thread from the bad companys page. not here! i am trying to keep this a positive thread and keep an open mind. just because you had a bad time with swift doesnt mean they suck! there are many drivers that have done well with them and i hope to be one of those. how about your next post be a positive one. thanks
As of this time the idele goal for swift is 18%. This was as of the last time I had a qual comm message that stated this. They will let you idle your truck when it hits 90 degress, i belive that is the correct temp. Where did you get your info about them being 9 mill in the hole. please back up facts like this. wheater they are right or wrong can affect many people. I have been with swift for a year now and have no complaints.
