I don't think I have read a thread in the last two weeks that has not had "The Plan" somewhere. We should all have it memorized here soon.

No offence taken. When do you think it is warranted and when is it not? I have been trying to do better evaluations since some have objected to it lately.

I feel it is a good post for fairly new drivers or drivers who ask questions that reflect a lack of research.

You see the same questions I see. What percentage of the new drivers do you feel read threads? What percentage do you feel come on and just ask questions? How often do you think they ask the right questions?

If a driver is asking about criminal problems after school, did he look at companies before school? Did he see if his school would qualify him for a job? What else did he miss? Will he go read other threads?

I don't want to aggravate my fellow forum members, so please offer me some answers to my questions and input on what your thoughts are on when it is proper to post this.

Obviously I can't save the world but I'd like to help as many as I can.

BigJohn, the plan, from what i`ve read of it, seems like solid advice. i myself have never made it post the first parragraph (too long) i don`t think it`s the plan so much as how much the plan pops up, mostly when it`s not needed. it doesn`t bother me, i just scroll past it. i kind of wonder how many people actually read it though, maybe shortin it up a bit.

Well it's hard to please everyone.

It was much shorter. Then I had several suggest things that should be included. I did that. Then it was suggested that it be made into sections so it would be easier to read. I did that. Then I saw more things that newbies were clueless about and added those.

Now some think it shouldn't be posted so much. I know that I can't please everyone so I will watch when I post it, but I won't stop. I decided not to say this in post 13 because I didn't want it to be misinterpreted. I won't stop because every week I get one or two emails from new drivers thanking me for sharing on the forum or asking for help.

Now some think it is too long. It isn't too hard to scroll past it if it has no value to you. If a new driver won't read it then he deserves what he gets. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink, comes to mind. No my stuff isn't all that special but it should certainly make a self aware creature with some intelligence realize this industry is more than he thought it was and cause him to do some research.

All my life I have pretended to be a sponge and soaked up as much as I could. I don't know about others, but I love to learn and I love to take tests to test my knowledge. I have developed and acquired numerous careers, licenses and certifications over the years and I got everything by reading. Whether it was informal reading or home study courses.

I came to this forum to research the industry as I prepare to purchase equipment, get authority and take another ride before I get too old to cut the mustard. I have read every post in every thread in the first three or four pages of the six sections I post in. So I find it hard to believe that anyone coming here to gain knowledge, which by the way is power, wouldn't be able to read a five page post that is pertinent with sections, paragraphs and punctuation.

I find myself with some time to help and share and that's what I am trying to do. I imagine I will be too busy soon to annoy forum members with my long posts, but I will always find joy in the fact that I know I helped some. I have always found people willing to help me so I feel compelled to do the same in return.

BigJohn, sorry if you took my comment the wrong way... Your post does contain alot of useful information that anyone looking to get into the bizz should consider. I think I have just been following you around on here for the past couple of weeks...LOL. IMHO keep up the good work, they need to get the info somewhere. I wish some of these guys had a clue before I get them on my truck to train them. I am so tired of training guys that just turn around and quit 2 weeks later. Maybe you should put the plan in blog posting here, and then you could just link to that. Just an idea...
