Felony = at least one year in prison plus a fine.

misdemeanor = less then one year in prison plus a fine.

Maybe Swift would hire him into their CDL school.

Can you ask your attorney if he (or she) can get it dropped to a misdemenor.. can he then get it expunged from your record. Of course, its all about money, but it'd sure be worth it.

All I can say is it's up to the company. Many may not want to take a risk if you were convicted of a crime, no matter if it's a felony or misdemeaner. Their thinking is this... If he stole a TV from Walmart, who's ot to say he'll steal one from off our trucks, and so on.
I'll admit I wasn't always a good boy, and people change. I believe in giving people a chance, people do change.
Best advice ask them....the worst they can say is no.
One more thing new hazmat regs require a background check, and depending on how they mark the crime on the books it could result in a no hazmat on your license, when you apply (if you plan to).
    GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

Usually after you complete the time and requirements of your probation, your attorney can petition the court to reduce the charge to a lessor misdemeanor. However, in between time, your attorney can arange a court waiver, thru your probationary officer, to allow you to leave the state, if it's job related. Of course this option would be incumbent that you secure a dedicated route.

You might try CRST. They did not seem to worry too much about a misdemeanor that I had nor the misdemeanor that my girlfriend had. Not sure what there criteria is, but I do know they always need drivers.

Give them a try, and fill out there online app, its short ;)

I hate to say it pardner, but it don't look promising for the short term. Probation usually means you can't leave the state without permission. I've had enough friends where your at, that I feel for ya. The "unresolved" will end with your probation though. If it does'nt work out for ya now, you can always try again then.
