Hello, I am new to this industry. I am a recent trucking school grad from California. I am trying to obtain employment and seem to have ran into some difficulties.
I have a criminal background. A few drug related charges from 15 to 20 years ago. I thought that the companies only go back 10 years but the Recruiters are telling me that they go back a lifetime. I have disclosed everything but am not getting the interviews. I have some friends who are truckers that have a criminal record so I'm not sure if me telling everything is a good idea.
Can someone help me out? Am I saying too much??

Does any of of your friends have drug related backgrounds. If not, most companies dont go back that far unless your hauling hazmat. Those are the ones who will dig deeper as far as I know..
Also its best to keep a button on your face when it comes to saying to much..Dont give out more information then necessary. -
Thank you. Yes one friend does from 6 years ago. He got hirerd but he is in another state. His company said thay did not care about drug charges, only domestic violence. I have none of that.
