I used to be part of the hiring process before I retired. The reason you run credit checks is because the gov't limits what a former employer can say about a person. If I check a reference with a prior employer all he can legally tell me is that such and such a person was employed there from x date till x date and if they would rehire or not. They can't tell you any reason pro or con.
A credit check tells me all his employers, dates, how responsible he is with his money. (You can tell from the patterns whether he hit hard times or its a lifestyle thing) How many times he's moved. Where he's lived compared to his application etc. There is a lot more on your credit report than most people think.

Man...we really have thrown Sean to the wolves.....I guess I need to go and shovel the snow off the truck...gotta go pick the wife at the hospital at 4:30...we got almost 10 inches here last night....dropped her off at 4:00 this morning , she called at lunch to tell me it's been almost non-stop since 6:00 with injuries from car crashes. I told her , just relax , got your favorite in the crock pot....BBQ chicken , and mashed potatoes with homemade baked macaroni on the side...gonna be a good night....:biggrin_25525:

Thanks for explaining that , I can see what you're saying..... makes sense. I've told the BIL many times , you gotta live inside half of what you actually take home....

I'm not sorry either...I really wasn't even considering the company anyways. I'm just board and thought I would see what everyone had to say LOL :)

Very few people probably have credit as bad as mine. Nothing irresponsible on my part. Had credit care debts and paid them off. Stared the process over again. But when I lost my job when the ##### hit the fan back in 2008, all was lost. Probably need to file bankruptcy before going to trucking school.

I applied to two schools already and had no problems after they did the background check. Not sure why some people would. I applied for my TWIC card back in 2012. Again, no problem. But I'm not sure if they care about ones credit history.

I have a brother-in-law who has been an OTR trucker forever and his credit history SUCKS. And his company LOVES him. He has never had any problems.

    Go figure.

As was said...credit worthiness and whats info is on your credit report are two different things.

Wow! That's pretty interesting. Credit checks are a great thing if you are the employer hiring then.
