If you had a conviction expunged and they ask if you have ever been convicted then what would you put on job application?
-
I had a good friend get convicted in Oregon for some stuff. He hired a lawyer 4 years later and applied for a expungement. There are some rules to it, you have to never been in trouble the previous 4 years or so and no pending cases. Then you get it expunged.
Go to the county website were you were convicted and search for expiungment form. Read it and see if you qualify. Go from there. It a few bucks but you can say it didn't happen after that.
Here is Oregon.

I can't say it louder:
YOU SAY NEVER CONVICTED!!!!!!!!!!....if its been legally expunged.Mack attack and Skunk_Truck_2590 Thank this. -
As georgeandson says, many states give you the option to have misdemeanor charges expunged in a few years if you've been law-abiding since then. You simply find a law firm that specializes in expungments and let them do the paperwork. It takes a few months to clear your record. Once a crime has been expunged, you will not have to report it to an employer, unless it is a State, Federal, or security-sensitive position.
BTW: DAC is one of the worst CRA's to clear negative/improper data from. -
I was not convicted of a crime by Md law, but by dot regultions I was. So you have to be careful how you answer the " Ever been convicted of a crime". I answered it wrong not knowing the dot regs and have been paying for it ever since. At the time it was not expunged,it is now expunged.

You don't have to tell me about DAc we have been around the block a couple of times. I have a very common name and they keep putting someone with the same name and birthdate(go figure) on it with a handgun violation and other petty stuff. It won't come back on because his violations are over 7 yrs old.
-
Handgun violation petty? Far from petty. He'll have a hell of a time trying to buy or even own another one. Get enough of those petty misdemeanor charges and they will turn into a felony. Here in Louisiana 3 misdemeanors is an automatic felony.
