I believe it. Makes their jobs a little easier when everything is documented by law enforcement.

AFAIK, law enforcement will show up anytime there is an accident if called, even on private property just to make a report. They do it for insurance, in case it goes to court etc, etc. But, they dont write tickets or show fault etc for accidents on private property. The police usually don't make "accident" reports on private property.. they usually make "incident" reports & they are not turned in to the state, so it wont go on your record.
Again, police do come but just to make a report as a courtesy to all involved, company & insurance purposes etc.

What is with this private property stuff, it is public access and a lot of places it is public parking so the cops will come out sometimes. I called on one when I was hit in a parking lot where I was told to park, the cop on the other part of the line said "just exchange insurance info" and I told him the girl doesn't have any, so he said "then just submit it to your insurance and let them deal with it", so I did, the insurance adjuster said cops won't come out any more. What pissed me off even more is the cop shop was a block from this place and three of them passed by going to the donut shop at the end of the block.

oh by the way, it is an incident when it is declared to the company, not an accident.

Depends on the state. Here in MI if it's under $1,000 in damage they may or may not even show up. And even if they do show up they will not make any kind of report.

    Yaya1974 Thanks this.

When someone backed into my truck at a Loves my company told me to call the cops and so I did. The guy showed up. I asked about it being private property. He said its public access and so absolutely they will come and make a report if requested. You're talking a property damage claim, not a moving violation.
