Yea we used to do that too when we were bored on a rig move. Farthest I ever backed was 49 miles in high range around a whole bunch of S curves did that twice in one day.

Would be REALLY hard to explain to the boss how you jacknifed a rig in reverse. Backing at 30 mph would make it really easy to do.

I once went over 5500 miles in reverse. So what I was on a C-141 with the seats turned backwards it was in high range

I have only done it once...in a transfer dump, sometimes where you have to drop/transfer you trailer is a long way from the dump site. I think I have done about 1/2 mile in an orchard, hills, the whole bit. The guy I was running with said it was a big "no-no," not sure if it was company policy or just hard on the truck. Have heard of transfers that were paving, and in a hurry to back into the paver, turned the wheel too quick and laid that truck over on its side....thats no bueno.

Of course, this is just the 10-wheeler, I would not attempt to back with the trailer on. Backing a transfer requires skill and attenion, one wrong move in high range and that draw bar can bend like a wet noodle.

Well I really don't take offense I just think that it's absolutely hilarious that just because you couldn't do it no one can, think it's a story if you want but I actually did it. I would have video taped it like so many of you do on here but I was a tad busy at the time.

If any of you listen to BlueGrass music, you probably heard that goofy song, Backing to Birmingham. Its about a guy gets in a truck in Chicago and can't get it out of reverse, so he backs it to Birmingham. Its totally a farse, but a funny song never the less.

Oh, in my original post I was pulling a 48' double drop trailer, not no straight truck.

Reverse racing as we call it is done in semis not combinations or straight trucks. Don't really care if anyone thinks it's BS. You either can do it or you can't. Just like backing up LVC's.
