I like that...creative backing...just for the record I'm stealing that lol.
Eh hell as long as all 18 are on the ground at the end of that lurch you're alright. I've watched smooth bores go through lights before not a pretty sight scray as hell but it happens sometimes nobody's perfect. And you'll only do it once before you learn.lv gn and Skydivedavec Thank this. -
Don't run from or to a job due to backing.... My first job was delivering Sears stuff back in the day.... Some of the older stores were hard to get into .... but after a couple of months... I could back a 53 foot trailer up my ex wife's hind end and never touch the sides.. Now I would rather back than go forward..
Skydivedavec Thanks this. -
Does that mean you are good or not good at backing? I guess it depends on the size of her "hind end"?Skydivedavec Thanks this.

ya true. i was thinking of the rails too. pulling containers.but now im focused on more $$. but i wanna stay local. cant go otr. i just dont see myself doing it.

Lots of gas stations were designed for this... Today the tractor is longer than that plus a 48 foot trailer behind it. You better know how to back up if you deliver fuel in Chicago.
Skydivedavec, Big Duker and Logan76 Thank this. -
Theres always work around here pulling containers, did that myself for quite a while. Many pay % so learning all the rail yards and the procedures will take time but once you learn you start making decent money. also many of those pay by the hour but they want some rail exp.
I'm starting a tanker job w/ no tanker exp. training tomorrow in joliet, Its regional but home weekends and during the week also, just keep knocking on doors plenty of great jobs around hereSkydivedavec Thanks this. -
think of the easier part of tankers as the trailer being shorter, no tail swing and easier to see behind you. Backing is easier, IMO, but don't think you won't ever have to back.
If you pull chemicals, you might pull under a rack at a huge chemical plant to load, then back into a small shop on a narrow side street in north jersey, to unload.. at 8am with jersey people on their way to work. Now *thats* fun
especially when you get all backed in and the consignee says "they usually deliver this in a day cab"
Skydivedavec Thanks this. -
You are looking for local work. This is typically deliveries from the producer to the client. The producer probably has pull through racks but the client is a whole different story. The clients facilities can range from pull through to fitting the truck into a bay that was designed for a spot half the size of the current truck. One issue that the clients face is that the agencies want spill containment, so a lot of times you are pulling into a depressed area. One advantage of tankers is that the DOT checks them more often and most, if not all, are well maintained.

Being that its his ex wife? Id say he can't back worth a #### lol. I'm sure that woman is like putting a Cessna in the grand canyon hahaha. Its a joke driver I'm sure you can back just fine.fuzzeymateo Thanks this.
