To OP; volunteer to pay for the damages (if it's not over $3k) to have it off your record, you'll be miles ahead. The company can deduct it from your pay - all this supposition is in the event not ocurred where the insurance doesnt know yet. -
From what your saying
seems that car was trying to get hit. Bet it already had damage.
Just needed your insurance to pay for it. -

Were you on private property? Backing out in street?
Cop can't write ticket on private property, unless laws have changed.12 ga Thanks this. -
There are a lot of you on this thread that seem to have difficulty accepting a basic principal of law so I will tell a little story about myself.
In the early seventies I worked for a grocery store chain. Several of our stores were situated so that it was necessary to blind side your trailer in from a public street. One store that I delivered to on a regular basis you had to back blind side off of a 8 lane divided street that had a double traffic light right at the drive we backed into. The store manager and 4-5 stock boys would come out with reflective vests and flash lights. When the light had the traffic stopped they would step out and make sure one one could run behind you as you backed up. One night a 4 wheeler decided he would take off when the light turned green, well he didn't make it, when they got me stopped his car was up on the right wheels only and his eyes were the size of coffee cups. The cops came out had me pull up slowly and let him back down, hardly any damage to his car but his shorts were never the same. Cop wrote me a ticket for improper backing. The company sent a lawyer to court with me and he explained the situation and the fact there was no other way to get into store.
Bottom line the judge said the law states that when you are backing it is the drivers responsibility if an accident occurs. The judge said he do not have to do this but He took the ticket back.
All of that being said I have no idea if the OP will lose her job or not, and sure hope not. But I do know that the driver is responsible if there is an accident PERIOD. -
After a little reading the best out come would be 50/50 fault. Shake it off, lesson learned. People are mean and stupid.

I went to a truck driving school at a community college. One of the other students in the class started at the same company as I did. This company had a safety point system where as best as I could remember if you hit 15 points you were fired. There was also a quarterly safety bonus that you did not get if you were in an accident however if you were fresh out of trucking school the bonus was for one year of safe driving.
The other student had the best backing score out of 20 students but after 8 weeks with a trainer and 4 weeks on his own his drive tires got into the fuel tank of a truck to the right side of his spot which was going to be much more than $1,500. He got 5 bad safety points and lost his chance at a safety bonus. The company had a 4 million dollar deductible. -
Even though this happened at Thremo King, the most accidents are backing and at truck stops. So Jade, many ppl right now are in the same boat you are.I know im not helping but trying to make this situation not so bad.Plz let us know what safety says.I.This year just isn't starting out right is it Jade?First the bus episode now this.
