Trucking Jobs in 30 seconds
Every month 400 people find a job with the help of TruckersReport.

40 hours total. 20 are 1 on 1 with a trainer over the road, and 20 are in the terminal.Lepton1 Thanks this.
-
Now THAT is good.
Last question just occurred to me. Do they train on manual transmissions? You don't want to train or take the CDL tests in an automatic. -
I'm not sure, but I think so. I'm going to visit their truck yard on Saturday.Lepton1 Thanks this.
-
no, the state employee, does not know how to back up either.KillingTime Thanks this.

I like your thinking, not many new drivers come on here and ask for lots of training in backing up. You get as much as you can, and don't stop, Do a LOT OF BLIND SIDE BACKING, then later go apply at UPS, if your good enough, and a young kid, you just might get the job, and later go buy yourself a nice home.
Good Luck. You can do it. -
Yes, there are ways to back without an 18 wheeler. A riding lawnmower with a trailer hitch can be used. It reacts faster than a semi-trailer because the combo is so much shorter. Most people's initial difficulty is understanding, step-by-step, what should happen & hot to make it happen. Doing & watching can teach most of the understanding portion needed before you perfect the mechanical ability.

I'm glad I was able to help you.

All my suggestions were suggested:
Lawn mower. (Guys around here have bushogs behind their little riding mowers)....saves time.
Video games. You can park it flash games...farming simulator...american truck driver....grand theft auto v.
Renting a trailer and using your vehicle or renting both a pickup and trailer. Cheaper to go out to a trailer salesman and "test" his. Just don't wreck his nice featherlite. XD
YouTube videos
We learn by repetition.... Not by doing.
Think back to elementary school teaching methods. Repeat everything back.
You gotta KNOW how to do it before you do it. Otherwise youre wasting your time developing bad habits. You'll just waste more time later fixing those bad habits or keep them.
Not to say driving a truck is hard... A monkey can do this. Handicapped spots exist for this job -.- -
$2600 for a 160 hour school in CHICAGO is VERY cheap. It may just be a great deal, but I would caution you to look into other schools that charge more and ask them WHY this particular school is $1000-2000 cheaper than average.
1 trainer can manage 5 students. The facility and the trucks/trailers are a significant cost, because new drivers beat the HECK out of equipment (Especially clutches and tires) 5 students at $2600 over 6 weeks =<$10k per month if you're busy all the time. It actually costs a lot to run a school that's worth a darn. So check into this before you jump.
