What's funny about that.
The People that are waiting for you to back in and standing on the Dock, think it should be easy since you have ALL THIS room.
They couldn't be any more wrong.
I used to Load/Unload Trucks, so I was one of those .
Backing tips please

Finding a reference point on a dock helps me, I run dedicated so im used to the docks. Bit in the beginning I picked a point like the dock bumper, and aim for its edge. It worked, what also helps in being straight is to understand youre mirrors. Some mirrors depending on thier placement make the trailer look like its angled out when its perfectly straight. So keep that in mind.

Well try pretending you're in a tight place. Also look for an object directly lined up with the dock like maybe a tree, car fence post ect.Or carry a couple yard sticks on pavement where your trl supose to go that way you know that your trl is straight. In other words you use the yard sticks to make your own guide lines.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who can't back up without lines. Lining up with the dock is easy...but my trailer is always crooked.

i drove 44 years b/4 i retired and the hardest thing for me to do was back into a dock with ten mt docks on each side. so dont let it bother you to much. lots of luck

I always seem to have more pullups in wide open spaces even with lines, especially after a long day...If no lines I look for last person's tire marks, if none of those, I do what I think looks right as I "visualize a track", get out, look and adjust if necessary...

another thing that might help to back to a specific point is a chem-light, cheap and disposable, when you G.O.A.L. just drop it where you wanna be and back right to it

Here is a trick i use with a 9 axle in a wide open area. I find something like a coke can or gatorade bottle, put it where I want to be then focus on that one spot. It seems like a rookie thing to do but trust me if a 23 year veteran does it then it works (i've tried every trick in the world). The concept is the same, the concentration that you use with one pivot point is the same as I do with 3 pivot points. Funny thing is, I cant back a 53' trailer to save my life.
The best thing you can have is 'sperience, find a field or empty parking lot and set up scenarios that challenge your ability.91B20H8 Thanks this. -
