Wondering if I made a bad choice. I got out of the military hoping to drive a semi truck, I attended a school in which I learned a lot from very experienced truck drivers. I remember one of the drivers telling me that if you get caught doing anything illegal, or basically anything that could cause you trouble down the long run it could cost you your license and everything else.

I think my main problem is that I'm working for a company which is small and everyone wants to micromanage every minute of your trip.

Apparently one driver was just relieved because he was told not to stop and take a break to use the restroom. The run is a local run but apparently if we stop within our four hours one way and 4 hours back, we are considered a liability for the company. As much as I need the money to put a roof over my family and food on the table I'm starting to wonder if I need to look for another job. I try to do everything by the book when it comes to the truck on the pre-inspection. And I guess apparently now I should not drink coffee or any type of liquid at night because it will make me have to use the restroom and stopping to use the restroom is a negative on my part. I was told that the other driver got in trouble for stopping to use the restroom twice. So apparently I'm supposed to drive 5 miles over the speed limit, not drink any liquid, and not stop to use the restroom...... if I don't follow any of those rules I will probably lose my job.....

    Lol!!!!!

I would put a lock on the office bathroom and let the office people know, that if you cannot stop for a bathroom break, neither can they!

What about lunch and your mandatory 30 min breaks?

It's honestly only one person that's making the rules they don't have a CDL and they never drove a truck. We get our 30-minute break when we reach are halfway point. Normally I only drink about 3 cups of water which helps me stay alert and awake and I may have one cup of coffee if I'm feeling a little tired.
Apparently I'm not supposed to drink anything in the full 8 hours of my trip because it will cause me to use the restroom.....

They cannot dictate your nutrition or your elimination habits.

Not to rat your head out but that person or place has a serious case of ####### running it.

Tell them you have the FMCSA phone # on speed dial, and are not afraid to use it to report the unscrupulous business/safety practices they are using.

So the question is I have plenty messages telling me not to stop to take a restroom break. If I was terminated could that be beneficial for me.

Yes. Then you can find a better job.

First, make sure to save up at least 2gal of pee, so when do get fired you can pour it in the truck or on the office carpet!

    morpheus and sliver Thank this.
