I been doing local since December I rarely get a lift gate I mostly 2 wheel everything and the only training I got for this local stuff is a list of stop key and the boss saying good luck and come back empty. which make some of the learning process longer ( like best way to load a 2 wheeler and not to over do it and bend the handle or always looking for dumpster at stop to know where to go) and now learning to down stack pallets.
I still got alot to learn just don't now if food delivery is for me But it's a paycheck. But no matter what the freedom in this still make it 100% better then a factory job
Bad day so far

Yeah when I take new guys out they love to work as fast as possible. It takes a while to learn to slow down a little bit.
One super-hyper guy dropped a lot of cases stacking them on pallets. They would break open and the product would have to be repackaged and labels for each item in the box reprinted. It takes about 20-30 minutes. So all that hustling and extra energy wasted.
When it came to wrapping, they new guys loved to short change that also, and pallets collapse in transport. Wrap the top twice, work down, wrap the base twice and work back up and break off at a top corner. Never had a break wrapping like that as long as the stack is straight. They like to stack crooked all the way up and forget to use load locks. "But the next pick up is only 7 miles away!" It can break in 7 miles.
Havent lost a pallet since summer of last year. Just gotta slow down a little and spend a few extra minutes wrapping and loadlocking. If a pallet breaks, it can mess up your day and damage stuff.
I like showing up at the warehouse and watch them pull all my nicely stacked and wrapped pallets, like a straight wall going all the way up.FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
