It's caused by common rail fuel injection and the scorching of the fuel. Not algae.

Then it wouldn't be treatable. The biocide wouldn't fix it.

Anything that clogged fuel filters in the old diesel boats in the old days was racked up to algae. The term stuck even though it was tar and still used today.

Given enough time I can find a web page that says you should mix 50% gasoline in your tanks to get better MPG. Ah yes, the internets. I invented it with Al Gore.

I just don't fuel at Loves. I've had to change to many filters after getting fuel there over the years.

I am still confused. Maybe I should just call Kevin Rutherford when he takes a break from practicing medicine.

...okay, yeah, all right there, buddy. They are a lab that identifies crap growing in diesel but since you and Al Gore have the handle on things, heck with it. Well, I'm out, I guess you can have it. I've seen the #### swimming in diesel under a microscope, but I guess I'm just completely ####### crazy. The other guy's link countering mine EVEN SAYS MICROBES ACCELERATE THE PROCESS... Whatever, boys, have at it.
