Passing on a 2 lane is completely different than on a divided multi lane. Whenever possible use th CB to communicate before passing on a 2 lane.

Since I drive the speed limit I will usually initiate the conversation with the approaching truck driver. If I know there's a passing lane up ahead I'll let him know that I'll take the right lane and back off a bit if he wants to pass. It's always safer to pass in a passing lane, but if there isn't one then he lets me know when he's going to pass and I will back off when he initiates the pass, but only if we have talked about it first, otherwise it traps the passing truck if he decides to abort.

A couple weeks ago I was driving from Las Vegas to Reno, going north on the 95. As I'm rounding a long left curve with a double yellow line I'm shocked to see a trucker overtaking and initiating a pass on the curve! I didn't have time to disengage the cruise control (62 mph) before he started to overtake me.... that was VERY fortunate. Another truck came from the other direction and Mr. Aggressive had to slam on the brakes to get back behind me.... barely. Good thing I was able to maintain my speed, had I tapped out of cruise he wouldn't have had time to get back and could have killed us all.

Soon as the curve straightened he blew past me, going well over the speed limit. Not 10 miles after that I came to one of the small towns that reduced speed to 35 mph with a suggested speed of 25 mph on a turn. As I came to the far side of town that driver was pulled over by a NHP and a Sheriff, who seemed almost giddy as they were comparing notes in their notebooks... almost high fiving each other as they started walking toward the cab.

    Don't be that guy.

I'm sure he just wiped out any time savings, let alone a significant chunk of income, possibly a career, with his antics. He's just lucky he didn't kill 3 truckers that day.

I always slow down for trucks in the left lane. Even, if that means to aggravate the car / truck behind me. If those cars behind me are getting annoyed, they can pass me. And I do get get very good diesel mileage, so I am driving my way to the bank at this point. I do flash my brights at people who intentionally use their brights with no dis-regard for opposing high way traffic.

And merging, i also got tired of moving over to the hammer lane for a 4 wheeler and getting stuck in the left lane because the douche-bag ####### wouldn't let me back in the right lane. SO, i've decided to either yield to oncoming mergers, speed past the merging vehicle if they are accelerating too slowly, or let the car or truck merge right behind me. At most I go 55 MPH in the Right hand lane. Anything faster than that speed with merging lanes is dangerous
