Most Home Depot stores will only unload building products in the wee hours. Like 0100 am to 0600 am.
    Depends on store.

Everyone has wanted and taken a load like that, myself included.

Then that old saying comes to mind "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."

It's way, way too busy to waste time on people that aren't pro's.

Just hang up, and move to the next one. The trully ### kicking part, is usually after you commit to something like that, the good load posts like 30 minutes later.

Now that I know that I’ll plan future trips accordingly. The broker didn’t tell me that initially even though I told him I wouldn’t make it to deliver until after noon the next day.

Definitely learned a lesson the last two days. I’ll comb over every rate con, and call both shipper and receiver if possible before signing.

Both lowes and Home Depot stores run this just in time stock software. When you check in, they take your info, run this software, it then gives them a unload authorization. The worker bees can’t override the system, they can only go by what it will do. Top store managers can. Learned this from a store manager back in the katrina days.

You busted your ##* and the broker just had to tell a few lies to get his cut, live and learn, remember if a brokers lips are moving, he is lying.

The kick in the ### part is since you dodged a bullet your broker will probably pull the same stunt on someone else. If it went badly and you got rejected it would have been dumped in your lap. This is what gives brokers a bad name. We can beat up on you for taking it initially but no one knows exactly what equipment we need for every load so sometimes we have to take a leap of faith. Lots of stress for a bs load. I'd be calling it an early week if l was close to home lol.

@Gumper as you get more experience as a flatbed owner operator, your "gut" will serve you well. You are smart enough to learn from mistakes. Some guys just keep making the same ones over and over again.
