I looked them up on google maps and realized the practice area for the driving is an old runway at an airport right there at the campus... maybe I can get checked out in the plane while I'm there. Of course that might get a little confusing. I might try to take off with one of them trucks down the active runway... (just kidding I'm not that crazy)...

The more I look into this the more I like the idea of going there.

its kind of funny... if I start driving a truck I won't need my car but 2 or 3 days a month. I might just sell it.

Plus I don't think I'll be comfortable in a Chevy Cavalier anymore once I get used to looking down at them all day.

Haha! I have a 2002 Chevy S-10 and I put about 5000 - 6000 miles a year on it. It looks at the home dock more that I do. :tongueSTARS15:

    *******

Dave Ramsey rocks! I expect to be yelling "I'm debt free!!!" this time next year.

I may not be able to get on with PAM or USA TRUCK.

    due in part to:

got rear-ended in 2006 (driving in left lane on I-24 in nashville passing a SWIFT truck and was being tailgated by an SUV. Swift truck blew a drive tire which part of it landed on my windshield - which was crushed, I put the brakes on, noticed the imminent collision & actually step on gas and I still get creamed by the SUV. The force of the collision actually made the already broken windshield come apart. Airbags never went off. The SWIFT driver never stopped. I had cuts on my face and in my mouth from the glass. A few days later I found a piece of the tire stuck under the hood).

I put a scratch on someones bumper in 2005 (waiting at light, both of us turning right, she went, I went, she slammed on brakes, I was looking for traffic coming from the left... smack - I had a small piece of paint chip off the bumper, she had a small scratch). Police came but neither of us were ticketed.

I got a speeding ticket (15+ over) in 2005 (Was driving wife to the ER - no mercy whatsoever)

Rad a YELLOW light in 2004(cop said I could have stopped - thought it was dismissed b/c I went to school but STILL on recored for awhile)...

All the other stupid crap I did as a teen is more than 10 years ago so they don't put that against me.

    PAM flat out refused

USA Truck said "we are going to have to get back with you on our decision"

I called Werner - said I would need to wait awhile

I called Swift - Come on lets drive... (told them I would call back lol)

I'll find someone good, just need to keep looking.

    Any advice?

    Thanks

Anything older than 3 years old will not show up on your official record. If the company wants more than that, tell them to go jump in a lake.

No ticket? No record. You do have a current copy of both your 3 year and full record, right?

3 years. That's all you gotta show. Now the company may want more than that as a condition of hire, that you have no say over. If you don't want to give the extra info you don't drive.

There are so many companies out there, don't feel rejected. And only give them only what they need to know. I am not saying you should lie, no no no no. I am saying do not offer more than they need to know.

As for tickets.... back in my day, I had so many tickets you could wallpaper a small room with them. It was just part of doing business, ya know? And they were cheap. 15 over in Oklahoma was about $100, and it didn't go on my record (Texas) so I ran hard.

Me and another driver made it from south Dallas to McAlester, Okla. in 2 hours and 15 minutes one time. About 170 miles. That was in the days of 55 and 2 lane roads too. Even today, you can't do that legally, maybe 2 hours and 45 minutes now.

And you ain't gona believe this, but.... (insert trucker tale here) and that's the truth. :laughing-guffaw:
