I know...When and IF you ever get out here in a truck, I hope that you have sense enough to understand that it is our resposibility to compensate for the poor driving skills of the motoring public when we can!
We are the pro's not them...Part of being a good truck driver is being able to anticipate the actions of those around you better than most.
It's a given that they will do stupid things and that they will often times deliberately do stupid things....So, It's up to the pro' to understand that and deal with it!
Should some of them not be out here? Probably, But they're not going anywhere so, It's up to us!
If that young lady's story is true...That truck driver ought to be off the road! We have enough problems with our public image already without ######## like that making it worse.
Bad semi driver!!!

i dont have many miles driving, well not compared to a trucker, but in my eyes driving its a privilege and you should have some brains to be able to drive, if not i m sorry maybe its safer for everybody that you just walk or have someone else drive you, and not just sit in the seat hold the wheel and look ahead only

Really, what planet are you from, I have seen plenty of truck drivers driving way to fast in rain, fog, snow.
and I have seen plenty of truck drivers tailgate 4-wheelers, or other trucks for that matter, I have seen plenty of trucks cut off 4-wheelers, drive dangerously, drivers like this are the reason the general public does not like trucks, it is because of drivers like this that goverments are pushing for new laws regarding trucks and for all trucks to be goverened.
Don;t just asume that because she was driving a 4-wheeled vehicle that she is automatically in the wrong. There are plenty of really bad truck drivers out there, the general public should not have to be afraid of truck drivers, and it seems like this guy really scared her.
I would have called the cops right away if you had any of the vehicles information, I myself have called the cops on bad drivers,AfterShock Thanks this. -
Is the speed limit to fast in the rain?

Sometimes.... -
In a down pour I'd agree.

I got a little chuckle out of her location. When she said I-44 and Springfield, I was afraid she was going to mention a stellar representative of the company named on my door. I would have been singularly p/o'ed about it because that's a direct representation of me. It's bad enough when it happens when it's not another from my company. I agree, it is up to us to act like pro's. Regardless of how irritated we get with other traffic. Have I been in the situation? Absolutely. And I have, on a few rather rare, heinous incidents, whipped up the American Single-Finger Salutation. That said, I do not engage in dangerous practices like the individual described above did.
I hope this lady gives us another chance and realizes that driver does not represent the rest of us.Saddle Tramp and AfterShock Thank this. -
I agree to a point....But think about it, Many people in cars are just barely able to function and yet the state sees fit to give them a license.
Most people in cars drive what? Maybe 10,000 miles a year? Many drive way fewer miles a year!
We, On the other hand drive 10,000+ miles a month and have much more time to hone our senses and skills to anticipate and avoid problems before they occur...(I know, I know...Many so called professional drivers don't)
If some idiot in a 4 wheeler gets himself in a jam and I can do something to help him/her/it recover from the mistake, I will!
On the flip side of the coin if I ever have to make a choice between the life of someone that screws up in a 4 wheeler and the lives of innocents...That idiot in the 4 wheeler has a serious problem!
Driving is serious business and it is not treated as such by too many people in our society...It should be, By us!Saddle Tramp and AfterShock Thank this. -
825,000
That is the total miles that the "average" 4-wheeler driver will drive in 55 years. That is using the average of 15,000 miles a year for that time.
The average OTR truck driver runs 110,000. So if they work driving a truck for even 20 years of there life think about the miles they are running.
We are out there all day every day. They are out there for a few hours a day max. No time for them to ever really learn how to drive in all situations. Us? we have no excuse after a few years experience.AfterShock and Kansas Thank this.
