I dont assume anything any more. Just like I dont assume you are sticking up for this gal that comes here just to rant on a board of proffesionals.
I do know there are two sides to everything, to take sides with some one that was able to read the door, but some how doesnt have the ability to read anything else leaves me to wonder. In this day and age of cell phones with cameras, that the poster let this slip their mind for proof of vehicle. The other point I see happening is that DOT should they find the "said" other driver will be able to hook up the trucks computer and see IF the truck was able to get to what ever speed limit or not.
Yet it is my bad. Your right Lil Devil if you want to drive improperly on the road by driving in excess speed on poor conditions, you go right ahead and do it. Frankly I prefer to be safe. I prefer it conditions are not good I WILL slow down. If you or any one else out there feel its necessay to drive imprudently and feel it is neccessary to support such bad habits, you are more than welcome to.
I drive by two words only. Safety First
Bad semi driver!!!

Thank you, I had No idea how to get anything started. My dad keeps telling me to drop it, and everyone else says to try and do something about it, but I just didnt know what to do or how to start it. And it was very tramatizing, for a rnourmouse truck to come at you like that is very scary. I know you guys are the back bone of ALL transportation and what not, so I dont wanna start any trouble, but I knew if I came here someone could point me in the right direction. And yes, ALOT of people driving cars, trucks, vans and suv'sare ####### morons, I try my best to stay away from them...lol Than you for your advice and help. What you guys do for us makes it easyier so we can have a civilized day to day. Thank you for that!!!
-
I hope you drive better than you spell...I'm still tryin' to figure out what rnoumouse means!
-
Hold on!!!!!
I think I figured it out!
Did you mean...Enormous?Injun and Stacked Passion Thank this. -
yes...sorry didnt proof read...my bad!! yes enormous is what I ment to put, and yes I am the WORST at spelling, and yes I drfive better then I spell. I used to be horriable at driving to because I was a stupid teenage, I've grown up since then and saw that I was stupid and I should have died I sdont know how many times. And YES I was doing 75 in a 70 just after it had rained, the roads were still wet and I KNOW that people get stupid when it rains, but not very many people were out and about, and I just wanted to get home. Yes I may have done something I didnt realize I did to tick the drive off, for that I AM sorry. And I SOOOO agree with you when you say most poeple driving a 4 wheel vehicle are the dumbest people out there. Watch out for thoes soccer moms, some of them are soem evil mofos!!
-
It's alright girl...I'm just teasing you a little bit.
-
She must have been raised well.
I figure she is about 25 and already knows that "if she bought it we brought it".
If more people would just realize that, and not just look at trucks as being big slow things in there way, I think we would be better off.
More would pay attention around us.
It is not the 50 trucks with drivers paying attention and driving well that you pass every day that you remember. It is the 1 that screwed up. That 1 driver can change a persons whole attitude about all trucks.AfterShock Thanks this. -
Rather, it's about a particular Big truck truck driver being a jerk.
Think about that.
Have you checked your's?
Your first paragraph caused me to wonder.
But your third paragraph says it all.
SaY WhaT?!!
Do you mean there isn't a driver around that wants to slow down to 75?
Comments in those first sentences scream inexperience.
And why do you assume it was a company Big truck?
Couldn't it just as easily have been an I/C or O/O?
You seem anxious to put the blame on the Original Poster. Do you think there are no bad Big truck truck drivers out there who do stupid things like the OP described?
And, as an added bonus, that works both ways.
Your professionalism is showing.
It really doesn't matter if she actually did anything wrong.
Two (or more) wrongs don't equal correct.
As professionals, we're often in a position to make a wrong right though, and expected to do so, --- not exacerbate the situation.
If you're readin' "sticking up for this gal", I'm readin' tryin' to put blame where it doesn't belong.
Which raises a question, ........ how long have you been a "professional", ..... in your opinion?
Just who, exactly, are you taking sides with?
If the Big truck was being operated properly, she wouldn't be in a position to need a camera phone to record any information, would you agree with that?
Have you ever been so scared that things don't occur to you at the moment?
Have you considered the possibility that the Big truck in question might not be equipped with a tattle-tale computer? Or are you assuming that it does?
Who else's "bad" would it be?
"I don't assume anything any more"?
Hmmmmmmmmmm
Yet here you are assuming things you seem to prefer believing, rather than accept the OP's description of what transpired.
I'm not suggesting that a little skepticism is a bad thang, but you seem obsessed with transferring blame to the reporting party and ignoring the possibility that her recounting of the incident is absolutely correct, and dismiss our attempts to answer Lil_devil_girl's questions as taking her side.
What happened to her obviously scared her enough to seek out a forum for professional drivers to provide answers to her questions, and perhaps some advice on how to react in the future to avoid another such situation. I'd venture to say most 4-wheeler drivers wouldn't expend the energy to do that. They'd just be satisfied with bad-mouthing all Big truck truck drivers, with no interest in learning anything.
I give L_d_g credit for her inquiry, and thank her for an opportunity to assist in an education about sharing the road with Big trucks, and some of the idiots who drive 'em the way that they do.
Not to mention the number of folks who will read this thread and learn from it as well.
Actions speak louder than words though.
And one needs to know what actually is safe before they can drive safely.
I can't remember the last, or first, time I heard anyone admit they weren't a good driver. Actually, when asked, the majority of drivers rate themselves as above average. For that reason, I rely more on how observers grade the performance of other's driving ability, ..... or lack thereof.
Thank you for posting your experience, opening the door for others to learn, as well as yourself.
I'm with your dad on this one.
Father knows best.
The odds that you'll ever find the driver in question are astronomical. And even if you did, the chances of anything being done to that driver are slim. Why waste the time doing that and/or stressing over an event that took place in the past?
You're doing the right thing, IMO, by coming here and relating your concern(s) and seeking resolve. Whatever you glean from what you receive here will not only help you, but potentially many others who will read and learn as well, ..... as a direct result of your inquiring mind.
Never mess with a Big truck truck driver.
Y'all never know if they're a --->or a ----->
Or both.
It's twue!
It's twue!
My best advice?
Never forget what happened.
Use the experience to better your driving skills and inform others how to avoid, or get away from those situations should they arise.
I'm very impressed that you're making the effort to improve driving conditions by removing potential problems before they reach that point, and/or reporting such activities to the proper place in hopes the problem will be addressed and rectified. I think most folks would just complain about it, and Big trucks in general, rather than seek a remedy.
Your concern indicates your desire to be a better than average motorist.
I hope you'll stick around The Trucker's Report and enjoy all that this site has to offer drivers and non-drivers alike. Then, take what you learn here and help others to understand how to share the highways with Big trucks, and how to avoid mishaps rather than how to get out of a dangerous situation. Safety is no accident.
SmoothShifter Thanks this.
