    Good morning,

I wake up and place my phone call to my dispatcher. I am told she is working a greyhound to bus me HOME. I ask exactly why I am being sent home and she tells me its because "I dont want to sit at a terminal to wait for another co-driver,". Thanks for telling me exactly what I want out of this situation. She tries to minimize the conversation and pretends like she thinks I am still on the truck with the other guy. I am waiting for a call back I believe. We will see what time it comes. Im not sure what to do in the meantime and I still smell something fishy here. Once I get home, sigh, Im going to get the run around hard and Ive just heard other horror stories about similar situations...... I am told that she doesnt know how close the nearest bus will be or how "close," they can get me to home. Once I get in my general area, someone will pick me up, Im just hoping there is some kind of bus terminal somewhere in Sterling, Co.

I guess Im going to start that lovely road to looking into other driving positions. I met an awesome Lease operator a couple days ago who has been with a certain larger OTR outfit for 8 years. In my own stupidity I didnt get his phone number, but I know hands down he would have helped me out....

To those extending a hand thank you so much, Im going to sit on my hands for a bit until I have more information

I'm no veteran in this business, but i can tell you, just from what you've told me....how you were at a truck stop, and he just left you. The big clue is that you said the company got a hold of him and had him come back with the truck so you could get your stuff off the truck. Right there tells me they are siding with the other driver.

What i would have done, is bought one of those tiny tape recorders, or better yet, if you have a laptop, buy a small microphone, tape it someplace in the truck and record the entire day. Then you could go back, edit it down to just him.

Yeah your log book will show you drove your tail off from Ohio to Kansas City area, but they wont care about that. I'd never have got on a truck without having a home terminal first. And when they changed your route, i'd have said, "okay, then we need to stop at the next terminal down the road..."

What is funny is that you call it 'my truck', and your co-driver calls it 'my truck'. You both dont see that it is BOTH YOUR truck. Your first mistake was jumping into a truck the first chance you got, with anybody you got. i'd atleast have waited around whatever terminal you were at, or if you wernt at one, GO TO ONE, and find someone who was in the same position you were in, look for a co-driver you somewhat got along with. You chose to play the lotto for a driver, and you lost.

As far as he saying he was spending hometime with you at your house, i would have simply said, "yeah, uh....i dont think so. You need to book yourself into a motel somewhere with a wal-mart nearby, and ill come pick you up."

If i started getting the run around about getting off the truck, that would be my first clue the company didnt give a flyin' !##$ about me. That should have set off alarm bells in your head to look for another company. Sorry, but if i'm going to run team, then we split the driving right down the middle. I'm not driving 9-10 hrs a day, only for him to drive 2-3 hrs a day everyday for a week. I bust my tail enough, only for the state/feds to steal my hard earned money, only to give it to those on welfare who pop out kids every 10 months just to get more of a tax break.

oh....in a previous post you said
that, by definition, is being a pacifist. :yes2557:

I would say stay positive. If this company is treating you like this then F 'EM. You dont need that. There are plenty of other companies out there. I am no lawyer but I dont see why a lawsuit is that far fetched if they do let you go.

They wont 'let him go'. They will just "werner him". what i mean by that, is that they will let him sit at home, will say that they're trying to get him back on the road with another driver, etc. and drag it out till he quits. That is their way out. they know if they fire him, not only might they get sued, but they'd have to shell out for unemployment. They wont fire him without good cause. (trust me, they're looking over every page of his logbook) What will happen, is that the OP will get tired of sitting, and find a local gig or maybe another OTR co. running solo.

I am just saying that he made them aware of a situation that they chose to ignore. He also cannot be the first person to have a run in with this guy. I just HATE injustice of any kind and this is a good example.

I get frustrated because it seems like there is a lot of this kind of stuff going on in the industry. I am a newbie and I am concerned about this kind of stuff when I eventually get on a truck with a trainer. Do I need to worry about the company hanging me out to dry if there is a problem? I am from Texas where you can carry a concealed handgun, I am sure a gun barrel to the side of the head would have brought this situation under control...I mean if they are gonna eventually let me go anyways then why tell them and just control the situation myself?

Funny part was that you claimed he was bullying you yet he is the one who according to you bolted. Sounds fishy.
