Butterfli -hubby's truck was filthy smoker (we don't) dog hair and smell of dog and dog pee. Brought it home after he got it and we cleaned it stem to stern-steam clean, Fabreezed it to death. Finally after months it's not so bad. Last week he gets a loaner his needs body work (OMG taking forever!) and the loaner Freightshaker (his Volvo bigger inside) still had and has garbage old clothes butts etc. He's been in it since last Friday-bare minumum w/him-most of his stuff TV fridge food etc all in his in the shop...oh well you gotta go w/the flow sometimes. Suxs but he is just dealing with it.

When hubby first saw his truck he was less than happy too. The interior had obvious seen better days, it took 2 days to get all the grease out of the carpet, latches were broken etc. And they tried to send him out on a load right off with no bedding or clothes. He took the first load and insisted they send him home right after. They did. He found that like much in life, looks don't matter for much. He really likes how his truck runs and has turned down a upgrade.

I am sorry things started off badly for your hubby, but I do think you need to relax a bit and not stress over things so much. Often things work out just fine and all that time stressing ends up being wasted effort. Venting is fine just dont let yourself take it personally. This job and life isn't easy. With luck he will end up loving what he does and it will all be worth it. :biggrin_25525:

Oh my gosh! I hadn't seen the updates! I'm so thrilled that he passed.

As for the dirty truck: it happens. You just clean it and go on. You learn the trucks faults & strengths not to mention the rattles and clanks.

As for dirty.........my husband was sent on the greydog to pick up his truck.....told it was this great volvo....detailed etc. He got to the secure lot in Vegas and it was horrible. Garbage was over a foot deep. The driver had been pulled over for DUI and was in jail and of course fired. The driver had beer cans & whiskey bottles in the truck and had spilled quite a bit. He had also left bottles of urine which leaked and evidently relieved himself in the truck on the floor.

My husband cleaned it enough to get it back to Phx where they decided it would have to be stripped down inside. They gave him another truck.

I still miss Gloria our first truck. I also miss Skippy the idiot volvo. Skippy is still on our fleet and is given to drivers who screw up. I love Thelma, our current truck but.........*blushes* I saw Gloria in the parking lot of the Flying J in Nephi UT.....and I cried like it was my child. I actually walked over and patted her hood then introduced myself to her current driver. Two nice young men (brothers who team) who enjoy the rubbermaid drawers I left in her and appreciated the note I left explaining not to remove the duct tape & padding out of the cabinet door or the rattle would drive a person insane.

I asked them what they named her and they hadn't. They asked me if I had and I told him she was named Gloria after the hippo in Madagascar. They loved the name and so she is Gloria once again.

    How silly I can be.

Anyway....butterfli........you love your husband. It's so obvious and so clear. You love that man and want the absolute best for him in a truck....in a company....in how people treat him. That is the way it's meant to be and well.....I think many of us on this forum love you because of that. Can I give you one more piece of advice? Honey.....pick the battles you expend your energy on. Don't worry about sheets, dirty truck etc. You and he just got through the tough time....bask in it. You stood by your man, encouraged him, believed in him. He's got a truck! You just keep telling him how proud you are of him no matter how dirty that truck is. And you two will be more than fine. I'd hug you if I could reach you.

No I'm just say they should have cleaned it before issuing the the tractor out. It is absolutely SWIFTS fault putting anybody into a tractor that has not been cleaned.

So Back Off Yourself. I was actually sticking up for your husband.

It is a drivers job to keep it clean inside, but he or she should get it clean to start with.

When I was with May I used to go pick up trucks that had been abandond, impounded, or for what ever reasons left in places other than company yards.

Some of them were simply indescribable on here, But even May Trucking(And I looked it up, listed under cheep is Marvins Picture) Would pay to have the inside cleaned. I used to carry a couple of large U haul boxes, line them with garbage bags and everything in the truck, Good, bad, and indifferent would go into the bag Get Sealed, close the box and seal it and am inventory would get taped to the outside. These boxes would swell and bulge by the time you get the tractor back to the yard. I never carried them inside of the cab.

May used to have a container in Salem that was full of these boxes, I don't think anyone was brave enough to open them again, even though alot contained radar detectors, cb radios, etc.... If a driver would call and request there personal items May would stick the U haul into another box and ship it to them UPS Ground.

I have seen my share of filthy tractors, but I still maintain its the companies responsibility to get it at least good enough to drive it. These companies even the good ones are cheep, and if you will do it free they will let you.

Your husband is best off just putting up with his mentor untill he is finished. Some trainers are just hard to deal with. Once he is done with him it will be worth once he tests out and gets to drive solo.
