No. When in training and with a mentor the student needs to follow the procedures in place to protect him. He needs to contact Driver Services.

This might have been covered in an earlier post but, what about the "student check-ups"? I've had 2 since I started OTR training and at the end of each chat with driver services I was given the opportunity to talk, in private, about any issues with my mentor or about training in general. If I was having difficulty with my mentor, though, I can assure you there would be no need for private discussion....all parties would know, and, in no uncertain terms. Thankfully, I'm satisfied with my training. Could it be better, sure. But 90% of what I'm not satisfied with is my problem...it's up to me to make adjustments and improvements.

Swift seems to be on a mission to get rid of the bad mentors. While my mentor and I don't see eye to eye on every single thing, he is, nevertheless, qualified and capable. Those other guys and gals who are in it solely for the $$$$ need to take a hike!!! All that evolves out of those situations is newbies who perpetuate the Swift stereotype.

I think I have a great DM and so far things have been pretty good. Sure you cuss and scream at the Qualcom! I would love to have truck without one!

If I would have had a bad Mentor I would have threatened him with a good old fashioned beating. Mine was a good for a Ford guy............:biggrin_25522:

Do follow the chain of command! It was on the wall at orientation.

Oldienwbie you are out of the Memphis terminal???? We should swap phone numbers.

I could give you soome bad advise :biggrin_2559:

My mother in-law changed mentors half way through. The worse that happened to her was sh had to wait 1 week til a new mentor was available, adding 1 additional week in the mentorship. Point of this story, if you cant take the heat get out of his oven. Ask for a new mentor dont "tuff" it out. BTW both of my inlaws drive for swift out of Lancaster Texas.

    Texas-Nana Thanks this.

Hi melatricia, how do your inlaws like the Lancaster terminal? And are they OTR or on a dedicated fleet?
