Rats! I was afraid of that....it's one I don't know the people at.

No one, called him or had him fill out online or kiosk reports during this mentoring period? That's so odd.

Here's what I'd do at this point: not panic.....wait and see what the mentor does tomorrow. IF he "fails" him....then your husband calls his terminal's 800 number...ask for Driver Services and talks to them.

The mentor can not fire your husband. The mentor can tell Swift that he isn't ready....what his weaknesses are.....and even not "pass" him. The mentor can put him off his truck. But he can NOT fire your husband. I do know drivers that didn't "pass" the 6 weeks mentoring period.....they were given extra weeks even extra training. I know one woman.......who was even sent back to the academy. She's a good driver now. And I know people who got different mentors because of conflicts.

Now......I do know some drivers that were let go but not after one mentor. One guy in particular was given THREE mentors. Swift tried HARD with him. He was a freaking idiot. I'm serious.

Sounds to me like the "mentor" (I use that term lightly) has a bad case of little man's disease. (As in, got his ### kicked a lot growing up, now has a little bit of stroke, so he'll make everyone's life miserable) Also sounds like he's using your hubby as an indentured servant to bring $$ to the truck. (#####in about going to the bathroom?:biggrin_2556:) Tell your hubby I said to whizz in his saddle tank next time he whines...:biggrin_2559:
And what has been said is true. This azzhat cannot fire your hubby.Tell him to talk to a higher up (Terminal Manager) if Rambo fails him, and offer to take a road test with said TM. Good luck to him and tell him hang in. As was also previously stated, he's going to meet a whole lot more miserable dumbazzes out there than nice people. Sad but true!

That mentor might be blowing smoke up hubby's rear end too. Anybody consider that? He might be just saying that because it makes him feel good to pick on someone else and make them think their future rests in his hands. If he "fails" hubby, he has to have reasons why and be able to articulate them. A mentor cannot just arbitrarily "fail" someone because he doesn't like them. If that happens too often, Swift will take a hard look at the mentor to see what he's doing wrong.

Like I said before, don't sweat it. Just grin and bear it for another few days and then move on. After he gets off the truck, go home, have a beer, play some grab-*** with the spouse and then go get in his own truck. And never look back.

On a side note about myself, the last steps are in play for my rehire. Just the last employment verification and then the physical/drug screen. I'm not worried on any account. I can pass all with flying colors. I studied for that wizz quiz.

Okay, I spoke to the head of one of the schools today and was told that the Driver's Services Reps are now called Driver Developement Reps. Each week the student fills out an evaluation on his mentor. If there is any problems reported the student is then contacted and will be assigned a new mentor. I was specifically told that if a mentor is behaving in this manner then the student really needs to report it or else Swift has no way of knowing the mentor has a problem.
So if your husband cares to report the mentor after he's finished (since today's his last day) he could contact Driver Developement.

I got lucky and had me a DANG good mentor. He worked with me, when i needed it. He also told me when i was wrong. Some friends had mentors that sucked big time. If i was your hubby butterfli, i would pass just to P.O. his mentor. I met me a good swift mentor the other day, his student couldnt be happier with him. I wish your hubby the best of luck, Butterfli.
