Right now what you speak of hauling to sewage etc and water plants IS ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL.

He needs to stay right where he is.

Add constantly to that 50,000. Make it 100,000 later this year then 200,000 next and so on.

We have to have that water treatment and we have to have that sewer. Its very important. Without that we have nothing.

Thanks all for your input. It's what we figured, but figured we'd check into it, anyway.

Yeah, I’d probably just keep saving for now. He probably makes 75 or 80k per year already doesn’t he? I’m afraid you would end up buying your own job and seeing him a lot less. If you have kids, that sucks even more.

I don’t know of anyone who has made this work in the long term. Lower barrier of entry but also less pay and much less “freight” options.

If he's hauling phosphoric acid to water treatment plants, that's a cushy, easy job that pays well.

Hot shot or expediting always has it’s short lived spurts, depending on factories or oil fields running at full capacity. Yet the stories of big money stay around. It’s too inconsistent. My wife and I run our own Authority. She used to help quite a bit, often along with working. It’s gets to be a bit much. I do everything myself these days. She makes sure everything’s paid on time. Sounds like you two got a good deal right now. Two incomes, probably two health ins policies. One should cover the deductible on the other? Add it all up, along with having nothing invested, should either job change. Priceless. Work, and leave it behind. Enjoy leisure time. Keep the 50k, That’s a great start. You’re Husbands probably in the best sector of Trucking to be in right now, especially. Consistency always wins. Slow and steady. I’ve seen this over and over, with my Fathers and his friends, and my Own family and friends situations. A lot of what’s said and heard is just that, talk recycled. Not ever relevant at the present moment. I’m sure if he wants to, he can buy a decent Truck, and lease it onto a Carrier. Make a decent living. Add to an already good lifestyle. But hang onto what you already have. The whole point of working is to build up personal assets. Takes a long time to get 50k saved. I once had 70k in the Bank. 18 yrs ago. Been trying to get it back ever since. Lol. Good Luck. Keep it simple, enjoy life.

Can he buy a truck and lease it on with the company he is currently working for?

As mentioned the job he has now is steady work. Generally speaking tanker yankers make good money doing hazmat loads.

Great time to buy. Bad time to be dependent on the income.
