Thanks for the support. Sounds like we are definitely not alone in this. Just heard from him and I know he is safe for the night!

Unfortunately these experiences are all too common with those companies. That is why so many here really discourage newbies from going that route. I say that for the newbies who are thinking about going that same route.

I really don't know what I would if I were in that situation. I would not stay at all costs, so I would have to consider my over all safety. I would document and as much proof and evidence as I could.
For example, I would use my phone or laptop webcam to record the trainer texting while driving, or telling me to drive under his hours. I would take those concerns to the safety guy, my tm and whoever.
While I agree with Allow that you don't just want to bail, I do believe there may still be other opportunities out there, however, you can't just quit. Use craigslist and other online sights and look for other opportuities.

Thank you for the heads up. No offense to you newbies, I usually give you guys a wide birth and a super quick pass, I will be expiditing that move even more now. Just the fact that you are driving in those conditions (fog, snow) without experience, guidance or supervision is cause for concern. Just drive as slow as you want, don't listen to the radio, and as for your trainers and your companies, SHAME!

It sux to be you bro. Not that I have been out there as a trainee to give advices nor have I worked for anyone but I can feel your pain. From what yo posted, no job is worth loosing your head for. If your safety is in jeopardy, GET OUT OF THAT TRUCK while your head is above your shoulders.

During my CDL school days, I had an instructor who woudn't let me make 5mph below speed limit. Wanted me to hit the off ramps at speeds no lower than the posted speed limit. I had another instructor who was an old timer, he tells me to take my time especially if there is no sense of urgency to hammer down. He say "You don't want to hit a kid trying to drag race em and live with that playing over and over in my head while holding the bars of a jail cell door". Guess what, I grew more comfortable with the old timer....it never felt good screwing up even more as a result of someone ringing in your ear about unnecessary things. I guess it is a trauma I have to face cos every time I drive, I remember him screaming "keep your rpm up, driver what is your speed, why are you using your high beam???..." It made it really a bad experience when ever I get on the road with this guy. I avoided getting on the road with him every time I could. It is your call, but don't let it eat your head.
