The 5 boroughs suck. I had my choice and I said no.
With that said, ask Rollover. There's money to be made there.
I just don't want the headache.Last edited: Nov 13, 2011

You are so right Wargames. In hind sight, spending that much loot does seem plain stupid just to have a go at a seemingly miserable job in the trucking industry. But please remember, there is a sucker born every minute.
As far as the break down goes, the $ 6,201.18 is all the money that my book keeper says I spent directly related to finding and subsequently starting/graduating CDL School. That includes all expenses itemized into that category and time line.
Sure I could have gone the bargain basement route and studied at the Allstate career school, not gotten any endorsements or extras on my license, eaten ghetto fries and canned Vienna sausages. Sure I could have not not drank coffee or bought a Rand 710, or traveled to multiple tanker hubs in several states to see what is really happening in the industry. Sure I didn't have to spend several nights in Niagara Falls to interview for my Fast Card, or throw a kick ### graduation party for myself, family, & friends at the Red Robin in Trevose. Did I really have to buy a new water proof messenger bag for my log books, training materials, work/text books, and other accessories to wear while ripping to school on the XR 400? Did I have to buy a take at home hair and urine drug screen test or even a new pair of sunglasses?
My answer is 'I guess not" but wasn't I talking about suckers? Hell, I borrowed and am still paying back a huge chunk of $ 32,000.00 to have gone to school at U Maine & San Jose State to obtain a BS degree in Land Use Planning and Management. To take my suckerness a step even further, since graduating I have had various crappy jobs of which none are even remotely correlated to my major.
Therefore, with all things being even, at least I know now that every penny spent over the past two and a half months was spent so that I could obtain a job as an entry level truck driver and I didn't have a miserable time doing it. Sure .38 cents a mile driving 1,800 miles a week (+/- some other add ons) to start while training doesnt seem like a lot now [(to all my detractors) (everyone I know)] but down the road at least I have made every attempt to be happy and satisfied.bert57nc Thanks this. -

This job fits our personalities. Have you noticed that most of us are a little strange?
Truth is, we like the pain and suffering, it gives us something to focus on. If I had a desk job next to you it would drive me NUTS and I would take it out on YOU.
So you should be glad I drive for a living, I can whip a 2.5 lb hammer out of the sidebox and take my frustrations out on a rusty trailer bumper until I can't raise my arms or catch my breath anymore. If I went nuts like that in an office, in the cubicle next door, we would both be on the evening news.Injun Thanks this. -
