He only got us for $600. Kinda surprised that he hasn't turned up somewhere with a bad case of lead poisoning.

I just posted the following comment on the blog article about Eleets going bankrupt and felt I should share it with you guys here.
"As someone who worked for Eleets, I can tell you most of what Stephen Davie has said is inaccurate. He was involved in EVERY aspect and decision the company Eleets made. Al Steele tried everything he could to save the company and sought out several investors and other companies to purchase Eleets when a plan to purchase the trucking division of Trailer Bridge fell through at the last minute. Eleets suffered a SUBSTANTIAL financial windfall when that purchase fell through (to the tune over $4M) that depleted our cashflow. The bank, Wells Fargo, did not understand the transportation business at all and had what was left of our employees asking them to lie to our customers so payment would be sent to the bank and not the people that deserved it. Our employees refused to do this but the bank brought in their own people to speak on behalf of Eleets as if they worked with us. At the same time this was going on, Super storm Sandy hit and Eleets was the sole transportation provider for the Red Cross. Wells Fargo decided they wanted to cut off tchecks and funds to our drivers and supply shipments were cut off. The bank told us we had to secure a buyout with another company, which Al pursued with a large company to keep most of the employees in place. At the last minute, key employees jumped ship to Trailer Bridge (including the COO) which caused the deal with the larger shipping company to fall through. The bank shut us down that night.
Al is not a bad man. He took care of EVERY employee that ever walked through our doors and gave anyone who wanted to work a chance. The real problem is here a perfect storm of bad situations that we couldn't ride out with a financing company that has zero knowledge of the trucking industry."
As my SN indicates, I am one of the people sticking by Steele in this tough time. He was a former truck driver that worked his ### off to own Vexure/Stonier and when he sold it off, he regretted not being able to work everyday. Which is the reason he started Eleets. Trust me in knowing that the fact the company failed has been far from easy for him and the fact that a "close friend" and business partner in Stephen Davie spreading these lies is just more to pile onto a man trying to take care of his 3 very young children (two were adopted from a crack addicted mother and the other has down syndrome). He has a family just like the rest of us and I will not stand idly by to watch his name be dragged through the mud like he is a criminal. He was the LAST person that wanted all of this to happen. -

You are correct. It's the bank, Wells Fargo, and this company that WF hired to "help Eleets through the sale process". He was paid and promptly we were shut down as soon as they were paid http://www.phoenixmanagement.com/peo...chael-e-jacoby

Please do this! The bank will not pay you and actually asked Eleets employees to lie and say they will.

As I understand it, Steele had been involved in trucking before. So HE wasn't new to the game. Why, then could he and did he not get financing from a bank that DOES know the industry well? I think I know the answer.
While WF isn't stupid, they DO know money, finance and business. If their analysts felt that the model wasn't sustainable, then I would bet money that it wasn't. (pun intended)
I'm sure you like the guy, but keep in mind that everyone loves a con man. He can't work his con unless he gets everyone to love him.passingthru69 Thanks this. -
Like I said in an earlier post that, they went after the Jews and I did not do anything because I was not a Jew. Then they went after the Christians and I did not do any thing because I was not a Christian. Then they went after the Muslims and I did not do any thing, because I was not a Muslim. Then they went after me, and I ranfor help but there was no one left to help.
If there is one of the hard working trucker is hit by any of these gangsters, if all of the truckers did not unite to resolve the issue then I thing curse of GOD is a must thing onto the truckers. I have been beaten by many of the brokers, totaling probably in about ten thousands, and I have brought it to this forum, OOIDA, and to the Bond of the broker (TIA ServicesDavid Carney) with no results. The most crook is still doing business as usual, and I have to ask money from friends and family to cover up the cost of very high insurance ($8000/year for Dry Van w/clean records, Carolina Casualty). Allen Lund has beaten us out of about $3000 for a load we did for them last year from GA to MA, load was done perfectly as required to C & S wholesale ( I am working on a you tube video to show the proofs) Hub Group owes us hours of detentions. TQL has never honored any of the detentions even if all of theload we have done for them are real cheap. CH Robinson says that I have to do at least 50 loads with them at my cost to get anything at the market rate from them. How terroristically they can say it, such an illegal statement, and enjoying such a big shot reputation? But any way my two cents, there are no laws in this industries, the brokers can hurt any one of the poor trucker likemyself, unless the truckers get together and fight these gangsters back. -
Allen Lund has been on my DNC list since we hauled our first load with them.
When you say 'detentions', I'm assuming that you've hauled several loads for them that ended up with detention. I have learned the brokers and the loads that will likely result in detention, and I adjust the rate to reflect that. That way the detention is covered in the rate. If we can also get it paid as an accessorial then that's a plus. We anticipate detention and have them pay it up front.
THIS is why you have to borrow money to pay your bills. You haul cheap freight.
See above regarding detention.
TQL is also on my do not call list.
CH Robinson has never told us that. We get a premium rate on loads that we book with them. If not, then we don't book them. Very simple. And if you want to get around that, tell them that your cost is $2/mile.
Stop hauling cheap freight, and stop booking loads with brokers that you know are bad. -
