Years ago , you'd never get away with this. Some of the trucks I drove had such stiff throttle springs, and certainly, no cruise control and clutches that almost took both feet to hold on the floor, you needed some kind of boot, or you'd hurt your feet.

Barefoot??? Yes its legal. You can drive in your undrwear if you want to, but put clothes on before you get out.
I drive with my boots off during the summer all the time. Or else I am wearing light weight running shoes. -
I think driving with flip flops or shoes unlaced can get you a ticket, though.

I heard driving with boots that go over your ankles can get you a ticket also, as they can restrict mobility.
