Base plates and No Authority

    There was some discussion at one point, where all owner operators and those coming under the fmcsa, would be required to have a DOT number that would identify each owner.

    Yes, this is what I'm finding out. Many have a DOT # even if they have not applied for their own authority. Hunter permit in MD allows you to travel thru MD. Temp reg/tags are a 1 time deal to get your tractor inspected in MD. They make you pay for your hard plate in advance. Man, there doesn't seem to be any consistincy among states.
