That's what I thought. He ought to be able to pull it off no problem.

    Thats not what I said.

I'm sure the money is there. Remeber, my carrier is based out of Chicago. My emphasis was more about personal time. Having life and taking care of things in general. I was just looking at things from my persective and what I experienced trying to be an O/O and staying local. I was not successful.

My only opinion regarding money is that $2k a week might not be enough if you combine family needs and business needs together.

I wish him all the best in the world. I just think in a place like Chicago he would be better off working for someone else then trying to manage it all on his own.

Just curious. Those numbers you guys are talking about. Are you leasing onto a company who owns the trailers or are you leasing your own truck and trailer to a company?

I am doing my business plan to become an owner operator and I want to lease on in the Atlanta area.

I found a company that offers 80% then charges $120 off each settlement for load liability insurance or 75% and pays the insurance for you.

The only other thing they offer besides IFTA and permits, is decent fuel discounts with the major fuel stops and they will cover tags then charge you back for it. No tolls or prepass etcetera. And currently on paper logs so no Qualcomm or Peoplenet fees.

They claim their drivers gross $4k to $6.5k a week, and usually stay out @ 10-14 days before home time.

They don't hire company drivers only lease on drivers so no competition there for the decent paying freight. And they haul only SE to MidWest.

I am a 7 year company driver and I have a degree in business so I know I can find success. Just taking it slow and reading all I can and looking for good advice.

Any of you guys have any good opinions about my first pick for leasing on with? Does the gross dollar amount match up with the percentage offer or does it seem low?

Of all the research of done with companies in my area to lease on with so far that's the best rates I've found.

This is the thread I've been searching for! Thanks to everyone for the outstanding posts,
