What amperage should i be looking at? The one i’m looking at is 350amp consistent & 2,500 for 5 seconds.

Always on the ground side.
Allegedly it arcs less.
Also. If the switch happens to fail and ground out internally, with it on the positive side it will likely burn the truck down. At least if its on the ground side it won't.Roger McG, GreenPete359 and InTooDeep Thank this. -
Pretty much all boats have a cut off switch & they all have them on the positive side, so when i was told put it on ground i naturally questioned it.AModelCat Thanks this. -
Everything I've ever worked on with a disconnect has had it on the ground side.
I'd imagine with boats being fibreglass you wouldn't have to worry about it grounding out. Fibreglass is a great insulator.GreenPete359 Thanks this. -
Petes always run them on the positive. Not sure it makes much difference
Oxbow, Last Call, spsauerland and 2 others Thank this. -
Kenworth always installed the disconnect switches on the positive side as well.

How do you determine whether or not the amp rating of the switch is correct for your specific application?
