Its a problem for drivers as far as maintaining minimum driver comfort.
The reality is roehls new policy goal for idle time is o%.
They can program these trks to idle, but won't because a few
Drivers in the past abused the idle policy. That privledge is now gone. Thankyou to all those
Roehl drivers past and present that didn't even try to stay with in the guidelines !
Pa is right, batterys are a good solution if you provide some kind of idle program for recharging
The batterys, this is what roehl has to solve. Idle time , fuel costs , battery and alternater
Replacement costs , driver comfort and satisfaction, these are the factors that marshfield
Are working with and weighing to determine maximum profit. As far as tripac costs vesus
battery packs its to early to call, but batterys are suseptible to vibration and tempature change
This affects thier life span, and alternaters will be affected too. The costs of batterys and
Hi performace alternaters and crappy OEM factory hvac systems and disgruntled drivers
leaving the company will possibly make the tripac the better alternative .

Well the junkstar has been to appleton terminal, appleton IH dealer then over
To marshfield terminal and marshfield IH dealer. According to maint the trk received
Factory updates and hvac system checked out and all is ok.
So I'm trying to remain positive about this trk after doing a reset at marshfield.
I asked the maint supervisor why wasn't this all done three weeks ago when truck was first
Issued. And did previous driver had problems with the truck ? He didn't have any answers for me and that somehow this trk got overlooked ! Sighs deeply and turns and walks away. -
considering wher your from should it be an arkanstar or a skunkstar...i like skunkstar
myself -
my prostar has auto start. on occasion i do resets in new york or connecticutt where the law forbids me to idle the truck longer than five minutes. i've never seen anybody ticketed there for idling, and the trucks idle in the rest areas and truck stops all night.
but even so, i'm curious about roehl's policy if i have to park the truck for a reset in the snow and my HVAC batteries run flat.
do i break the law and idle? do i drive up and down the highway for an hour, burn fuel and lose the reset? do i freeze in the cab with no heat?
haven't had to ask the question yet. -
Right now I am one who isn't complaining. I did a reset in PA with temps around 25 to 40. Had heater on most of the time and charged my computer every now and then and would unplug my cooler every so often, more to let my fan rest, but helps save juice too. Took 24 hours before I got a load warning. Turned on the auto-start and truck idled for about an hour before shutting off.
I have been lucky so far... -
I am going to go where I control the heat and the AC all the time. That will make it real simple...

I know some of my fellow roehl drivers feel that I'm complaining, I suppose that's
Easy to say when your in a truck that allows you to stay in your comfort zone.
Not all of us are that lucky, if you had my trk you would understand and be voiceing
Your opinoin on this forum same as me. Untill roehl can put me in a different trk,
(Please not a new one) I will continue to post my adventures in the junk star international
