    My 1980 was set up like that. Those kind of setups died out in the 80's, maybe early 90's at the latest.

    My 87 Pete had the 24 volt starter but used 4 12 volt batteries, when the starter went out I replaced it with a 12 volt starter and got rid of the series/parallel switch; that was the last one I owned but I am not sure how long it was offered as an option.
