Looking to buy a liner press for BC/N14. I’ve found a few for sale but mostly identical X15/ISX presses. I know the engines are completely different but are the head bolt patterns similar and these presses interchangeable? Bare in mind, I’m looking at pics on the internet.

I have a liner press for the 855 / N14. I can share some pics and measurements if you like. Little machine shop work but they are easy to buiid….

Back in 1994 when I had my BC 1 rebuilt over a weekend, I had borrowed a press liner for a CAT, a little ingenuity my buddy (mechanic), made it work.

Yeah, I made my own when I did my N14, a couple years ago. It seemed to work ok.

But that would be hard hitting with lower press fit liners. Would worry about getting some trash under the liner flange.

W923 and Diesel Dave Thank this.

Yall won’t believe it but pay attention to a liner put in with a block a wood and a hammer. Wood will #### sure bend metal. I made a guy tear all 6 out years ago. Everyone of them had minor damage around the flange

I try to avoid whacking stuff as much as possible. Especially, when I’m going back together with stuff.

I’m gonna build my own. I’d like for it to be adjustable from N14/BC, to 3406. I’ve been tearing this BC1 400 down for my FIL and measured from head bolt to head bolt, in the block, across the liner and it’s right at 7.5” centers. Now, this is an off the wall question but what would the 3406B measure, if done the same way?
