has anyone been checked?
The officer at the Yack scale told me they had no direction except that its law. They also didn't have anything to plug in and check it. 2 weeks later there is an electronic sign set up at the yack scale saying its required but so far no action that I've seen. I pass the Yack scale about 6 times a week, so far business as usual..

From what I heard is they aren’t going to be actively plugging into trucks. But if you’re caught speeding you’ll also get the failure to have a speed limiter ticket

I opened this thread thinking that "BC Speed Limiter" was maybe a euphemism for a runaway truck ramp.......you know, like the type you take if you try going down Cajon Summit in "Georgia Overdrive"....

We've had limiters for years in Europe but at least it is the same for the whole of the EU + UK, all set to the same speed 90km/hr. This is about 56 mph (even though the limit in UK is still 60).
But the worst thing about this is that it has sent a very negative message to drivers of lighter vehicles who get stuck behind a truck overtaking another one, slowly..
It takes no account of weight, power and terrain and is no fault of the truck driver to be unable to pass more quickly. The more usual arguement to that is that trucks should hold back behind a slower vehicle but, if you are on a long straight motorway for hundreds of miles that is a lot of wasted time getting to your destination.
My answer to this problem has always been to allow a 5 or 10 minute override of the limiters. In other words flick a switch to turn off the limiter but only for 10 minutes say, That should let a lighter or more powerful truck plenty of time to complete an overtake and open the road for the boy racers to get past.
Only one flaw with that, it's commonsense.Canadianhauler21 and BobO1176 Thank this. -
I remember when speed limiters first became common, back in the late 80's. There used to be a joke going around then about a JB Hunt truck limited at 62mph passing a Schneider truck limited at 61.5mph......
AModelCat Thanks this.
