Hello Honch, thanks for the feedback, I need to agree with you. I tried to play cute the first go round and it was just not right. I generally do much better than that trying to take the highroad. I just let one guy get under my skin. We have 80 very quality drivers working for us and I did them all (and you) a disservice. I am truly sorry for that. I ended up stating my true feeling but damage was done and that was my fault. I just could not understand why Rollingwierd was taking such a personal approach to saying our company is bad. We work very hard to try to provide a solid operation with dedicated round trip work. Business comes and goes based on the most recent bid. Again, truly sorry for insulating the majority of really good drivers out there. I definately made a mistake. John Douglas, BD transportation

    Idiotdriver?
    He said it,not me.
The reason John boy is here and no doubt this is him,is to spew more of his cry baby non-sense about his company that in my humble opinion is tanking or at least has been knocked down a few pegs and the reason is his fault. As posted on the BD web site and I quote
Do to others what you would have them do to you.

    Matthew 7:12

Guess BD should expect folks to screw them then.As many can see he has this habit of always inserting foot in mouth.

I want to to add this final thought also....
BD is in my opinion a crap company to drive for,the reason I posted the OP but by far not the worse.
Sure Mr Douglas is the owner and can run his company anyway he sees fit. Which is his right and I defend that to the end but that said,if folks want to climb the ladder of success,BD like many others out there,is not the way to go but rather a stepping stone. As the CSA sets in and the driver pool shrinks as it is doing, many companies will have to pay higher wages or quality drivers will go where the pay and treatment is better and they are rewarded by their work, not this myth of "fairness".

Kudos John for standing your ground.....but this is a prime example of carriers in a " race to the bottom " with rates. All of the big shippers will from time to time put out " tenders " for their freight. All this does is create an "auction " atmosphere with the carriers. ( ever been to an auction and see someone bid 3 times more than an item is worth just because someone else bid on the same item) and the only winner is the shipper, the real loser is the driver. He gets to take a .04 cut to his mileage pay for all of this new business.
A lot of drivers are currently working for early 1980's mileage rates and to be honest flipping burgers sure starts to look more attractive than living in 4' x 7' box for a month at a time for barely a living wage. There is no " driver shortage " that is just a myth, there is however a shortage of drivers who want to work for that pay and those conditions.
But it is nice to see an owner compliment his drivers, even those that did choose to go elsewhere.

Tell you what casc1. You go drive for BD for a given time and see if you still feel that way.:biggrin_2559:

As to driver shortage..I have seen studies where this is fact true BUT some companies do not want folks to know the truth or they might be forced to actually ante up more pay and things like bonuses.

I have driven for a few companies....good and bad....anything that I considered bad I left, the only problem is the list of good ones gets shorter by the year.

    Lonewarrior Thanks this.

They are out there but one needs to know who to go to and who to avoid..hence the reason I am sure the owners of this site set up these sections to report on good and bad companies.

To anyone considering going to BD,I want to again stress,STAY AWAY. Unless you like being treated like a kid or want McDonalds like pay for all the hours you put into crap runs and stops, not to mention cheap brokered runs.
Heard the yearly safety meeting was a real riot. One person who was on patrol near the meet, actually thought a local food bank was going to have a food handout to bums when many of the drivers were arriving at the meeting. Quite the motley looking crew.lol
Guess that is what one gets when they have to scrape the bottom of the barrel.
