Only one way to tell for sure. Need to put a set of guages on the system. Find out is it is fully charged.
If the compressor clutch is not engaging, you could have one of these items not working.
    The compressor clutch fuse blown.
Low or high pressure sensor/switch gone bad.
Possible that the temp sensor has gone bad, rare for that.
A short in the feed wires for the compressor clutch.
Rare but possible is a clogged/bad expansion valve.

Some systems a fully stand alone, they have an evaporator system separate from the trucks. Some are integrated with the bunk mounted system. Does the bunk system work when operating the truck and dash system?
If this is an integrated system, then my first guess would be fuse, then high pressure sensor. The sensor should be mounted on or in line very near the compressor.

One other test you can try, is to feed power to the clutch. Take a 12 volt source and feed the clutch. If it works and the system runs as normal, then a fuse or shorted wire for the clutch is most likely the problem. Only test this way with a gauge set hooked up so you can see pressures and stop if goes to high.

Truck ac works well. Have separate vents for Apu ac. Shop will look at it when I get back.

Got lucky last night, and had perfect windows down, fan running sleeping weather.

Thanks for the reply and hints.

Not to good, Tom. We're having to take him out of the rehab facility and move him into an advanced care assisted living center. The cost of this is absolutely nauseating, but it has to be done. I'm trying to arrange a mortgage to buy the house I grew up in, otherwise it'll have to be sold. Things are moving so fast and it's looking more and more like I may have to give up the dream of running my own truck and go home, drive local and take care of the family business.

Been going thru similar stuff with my mom this week. No O/O for me in the foreseeable future. If my wife gets that windfall of life insurance from her dad's passing I'll probably put it to local needs myself. She wanted to buy a Rotator (389 recovery Pete) and start a business....her little pittance wouldn't cover it with what I'm going through. I feel you, man and feel for you. Sorry to hear.
Let me know if there's anything I can do.

ps: Driving local (as long as it's not food service, no offense to Mike and them) isn't all that bad. See about pulling asphalt around the state, or LTL....just my 2cents.

Chin up, mi mano. I tell myself that on a daily lately, as well.

Why do you have to mortgage it? Does he currently have a mortgage or is it other family members insisting it get sold so they can get "their" money?

No, the house is paid for and it's just me and my sister left and she has no need of the house or money, shes quite comfortable financially. The house needs to be liquidated to pay the care facility...upwards of 10k per month that he doesn't have and the insurance is only covering a small fraction of. I can't come close to paying that amount and the relationship between Dad and my sister is pretty much nonexistent. She had initially refused to even consider helping me with him and the arrangements, but I think she realized that he is slipping away fast and it might be time to make peace.

There are some very positive things happening in my life right now, but I'll wait until I sort through all this current mess to move the discussion over to that.

Have you thought of a smaller sized mortgage to live on while staying home with him and taking care of him yourself and screw the truck and over priced healthcare housing? Financially you are barely into that truck payment wise, and its not like its been awesome to ya stability wise.

I don't know your dad so cant speak for him, but i'd certainly rather spend my last days on this earth with my children than in the deathhouses they call hospice.
