Well, I'm getting on top of things and believe that I can be spared for a week or so, so I've got a load out of NC early Saturday morning heading for a Monday morning unload in Ankeny, IA. Morehouse has really gone the extra mile with me on this and are making no problems whatsoever with my need to stay in striking distance of the house or with my need for regular time home. I've always run long stretches out but I'm becoming more and more aware of the fact that those days are getting behind me. I guess my Dad's condition and knowing how it was always about work with him has cast me in somewhat of a reflective frame of mind. I really love trucking and intend to keep doing it, but I'm starting to truly understand what is important in life.

I used to stay out 3-4 weeks at a time. I now am home every weekend and a night during the week. I’m making equivalent money. I am MUCH happier and so is the wife.
You will find your ‘sweet spot’

Dad died early this morning. While I am saddened by his passing, the overwhelming emotion I'm experiencing is relief. I would not want to live like that and neither, I'm sure, did he. Called Morehouse and had the load off me in an instant. Have had more than a dozen calls or texts from work offering condolences and offers of help. I work for a dam good company.

So, I guess I'm going to be home a little longer now, but at least I know now it's all over and I can call the realtor and tell them to pound sand, I'm keeping the house.

@Broke Down 69 Down - My condolences man. I'm sure that rings hollow for an internet stranger, but the loss of family is always tough. Just know I'm keeping you in my thoughts.
