I'm thinking he shouldn't be using the past tense ...

So feeling the pressure of a truck payment and the other associated costs of owning a truck, I hiked up my pants, put on my boots and crawled out of Winston, MO this morning. Took 3.5 hours to go 90 miles to Harrisonville for fuel. Honestly thought about stopping right there but I talked with a Northbound driver who told me it got better about 20 miles down, which it did. Told him he might want to think about holding in place, things were about to get really ugly. Finally got to Russelville...it's raining buckets here and seems to have been for some time judging by all the flooding happening.

Have a massive deadhead of .8 of a mile to drop and hook a load headed for Gas City, IN. What a name for a town, but to me it's just another Wal Mart DC.

    More later...

I should also mention this to give some idea about the company I work for.

I knew yesterday that a storm was bearing down on me so I called in and let the dispatcher for this load what was possible. No griping or complaining, he just said let him know what I was going to do. Woke up this morning to about 1/3" of ice on everything and completely parked down...couldn't move if I wanted to. Sent in a message since I was up well before any dispatcher, then played back down. About two hours later my Qualcomm went off and I got a message.

Let me know if you move, it said. Not when, if. That two letter word says it all about this outfits priorities, keep yourself in one piece, the load will get there when it gets there.

There's at least one trucking company that understands what's really important.

So both of us were in Shaun's ear today. Guess we should buy him the beverage of his choice for being a good troop.
