Well, my end of life matters are signed and in place now. I can croak in peace knowing that I won't leave my wife or children to clean up a big mess on my behalf. The process was a little tedious. However, I used Legalzoom for the documentation and it wasn't too bad. As follows:
Last Will & Testament
Durable Power of Attorney
Living Will with Advanced Health Care Directive
I also developed a step by step process on paper of what my wife (or son) needs to do with regards to closing down my business. That took some time because I had to spell out how to handle the delivery of any load I might be under and every little detail, etc. One of my trucker friends agreed to assist her with the delivery should I die while under a load, etc.
It's kind of a grim task, but it's something we all need to do.Last edited: Mar 3, 2018

Home. It was a rough day getting here though. Woke up at 0200 to get may day going. Walked around the truck doing my pretrip and everything was ok. Went in to get coffee and when I came back out my reefer unit was spewing fault codes all over the place...not good when you're hauling a load of medical supplies that can't get above the set point. Fortunately, at this point anyway, it was 30 degrees and temp was a non issue. So I jumped in and headed out. About Wytheville VA my old friend, snow made an appearance and it dumped snow from there until about halfway down Fancy Gap, where it all turned to rain. From that point on it was fairly uneventful until after my unload at which point the wind started blowing. Hard. Real hard. Think Wyoming on a bad day and that's what I'm talking about. Stopped to fuel up in Mebane and gave strong consideration to parking it for the day, but I had to get the reefer in the shop, so I passed by my house and went on to Charlotte where I had to leave the trailer. Doesn't look like they're going to get to it until Tuesday, which sucks sweaty donkey balls since I was planning to bug out at 0 dark 30. Well, like I said, I'm home and getting a little break.
More later...RStewart, Highway Sailor, Vic Firth and 3 others Thank this. -
That ain't no lie. My shoulder still hurts from fighting that wind yesterday. But sounds like i got out at the right time, figures you brought the snow with you.

Funny how hard home is to adjust to when you've been away for a few months. I was plain tired last night and turned in earl planning to sleep until noon. Woke up at 0500 in a bit of a panic...my body was telling me I should have been driving for two or three hours and no matter how much I wanted to, I couldn't go back to sleep.
Got my taxes done and got a little work done on the truck before all motivation left me and I called it a day. Went and had a big steak with my Dad and now I'm just setting in a recliner relaxing. Hope y'all had a great day.
More later...Airborne, Scooter Jones, kemosabi49 and 2 others Thank this. -
