Yesterday that storm was moving across eastern Nevada and Utah. High winds 40 to 65. Started with a trace of rain and then on to snow. Did get some pea size hail.

We spent the afternoon in tippecanoe bay. Couldnt get the snook to bite but the trout was tearing it up. Also got a few smaller redfish. And the best part of the day was 2 dolphins chasing us back up the river to the ramp. Tho i think my ear drums are permanently damaged from all the squealing my little girl was doing. I dont think I've ever seen her that excited as she was when those dolphins was leaping out of the water right beside us. They even came back to us when we had to slow down for the manatee no wake zone.

This has been a seriously weird day. 80 opened up at 0600 so of course everyone tried to leave at once. I sat it out for 30 minutes and then hit it but it still took 30 minutes to get out of the lot at Bosselmans and onto 80...a half mile trip at best. The from there to North Platte the roads were a little sketchy and the were to many dumb butts trying to make up two lost days in an instant...smdh.
From NP on, the roads were much better, traffic began to sort itself out and the temp, which started at 19 began to rise...quickly. Around Denver, Spring was in complete control and the temp jumped over 70 and my windshield began a bug genocide. A real jihad is what we're talking about.
I figured once I hit the big climb up to Vail it would cool off. Not so much, and I took in the very strange sight of people skiing in shorts on a 65 degree afternoon.
Came out of Glenwood Canyon and saw a Bighorn Sheep standing on the side of the road...that was sort of cool.
Made it to Grand Junction with 30 minutes left on my drive line and called it a 645 mile day. Not to shabby considering.
More later...Vic Firth, intrepidor, Highway Sailor and 7 others Thank this. -
First off, big thanks to @bzinger for backstopping me on a possible in between stop if it was necessary. It wasn't, but it was a big help.
Barstow. Last time I was here I ran into a waitress I went to high school with. This time I'm parked next to a guy that was in my orientation class at Trans Am. This place is like reunion central for me.
664 miles today and backed in with 9 minutes left. And I'm shot. This wind is kicking my ### and there's no end to it in sight. My hands and forearms are aching pretty bad, but I'll survive.
73 miles from an 0600 unload. No preplan yet. We'll see what happens tomorrow.
More later... -
Watch out for the Cobia. Put a 40 pounder in your boat and you both will be squealing, just not from joy, more like terror. Whatever you do, don't sit on it to calm him down. (Sharp spinal fin)That will yield horrible results. Either strike him dead center in the head with a hammer or cut your losses and just jump overboard and let him have at it. You will me thank later.Panhandle flash, taodnt, Gatordude and 4 others Thank this.
