I thought bd just put a new ecm on it cause his was saturated with oil.

@Broke Down 69 correct me if I'm wrong and please add anything i missed but haven't you put a new ecm plus a new injector harness on it with in the last couple weeks?

Do you have a pyro gauge in the truck to check this? Over fueling can cause high exhaust temps which then gets pushed back through the intake from the turbo and egr. I'm not up to speed on how 'smart' newer ecms are, but it makes me think its possible the ecm is telling the fan to kick on sooner because of higher intake or exhaust temps. This points to over fueling or leaking cac. If it's on the fuel side, since you changed the ecm and the harness makes me want to lean towards a intermittently sticking injector. That would explain all the times its randomly gone from running great to running like crap and back again.

I didn't have the tools to drill the holes at the time and wanted it done. Another reason was so that I wouldn't have to plug the drain in order to keep the outside air away. My generator exhaust is pretty much right underneath that area.

A hole saw but will drill right through it. If you put in a trap like a house sink you won't have air coming up through the drain pipe. Or buy a rubber plug for the sink, they are only a buck or two.

That's my opinion, but I'm lazy and wouldn't want to mess with having to dump the drain water.

    No on new ECM.

Replaced injectors, harness, inlet/outlet SCR sensors, ran overhead and cleaned and bench tested the ECM.

Well, I've got up early and watched the Formula 1 race in Monte Carlo. Then the Indianapolis 500. Waiting on the Coca Cola 600 to start in my hometown of Concord, NC. That's right boys and girls, the Charlotte Motor Speedway is actually in Concord.

Memorial Day is a racer's paradise.
