I'm over in Astoria, OR this evening. Absolute dream weather. Cool ocean breeze and nice & quiet where I unload early in the morning.

Delivered a load in Auburn, WA this morning. I just couldn't pass up the rate offer to get it there this morning.

Btw, can't remember when I updated on my health focus turnaround. However, I'm doing very well.

Changing my diet has worked wonders in the way I feel.

In addition, I've lost 35 lbs now in 6.5 weeks. My blood pressure has normalized to an average of 118/77. The doc will be very happy to see that.

    Really like Astoria.
It will blow your diet, but a small order over at the bowpicker is good.

I've been messing around with an Instant Pot the past few weeks. I'm pretty impressed with how quickly it cooks and the amount of energy it uses. It also has really good rubber feet on the bottom, so it won't slide around. Clean up is pretty easy, you just wipe it out, put some water in, and pressure cook anything that might be stuck to the bottom. Then just rinse it out and sterilize it, dry, and put away.

The thing cooks just about anything, and I find myself typing random recipes in Google for it. From stupid things like Instant Pot popcorn to Instant Pot Pad Thai, there's probably a recipe for it. One recipe that gave us and quite a few other people trouble were pancakes. It sticks to the bottom pretty bad. So I ended up getting a silicone baking mat and cutting it to fit the bottom, then spraying that, then cooking the pancakes on the mat. Oh, and it has a yogurt setting if you're into that sort of thing. Just put 1 TBSP of yogurt for every 2 cups of milk, whisk it together, and it will keep it around 110F.

I've run it at night to make dinner, watched a movie on the PS4, and woke up with the battery voltage only at 12.4 without idling or running the generator.

You know, it's never a reassuring thing to have a whole shop full of mechanics and a Cummins engineer all standing around, quietly. Whether by coincidence or not, I'm now popping an SCR/DEF service on the dash. Also got dispatch wanting me to slipseat and act like a shag driver...yeah, that ain't happening. I think I'm just going to start drinking...heavily...until I just don't care anymore. Lol. We'll get it figured out.

Looks like the DEF/SCR is not a fault cod, rather a milage triggered alert. I'm about 40k short of service according to the company records but I think I'm going to go ahead and do that along with the DPF which is due at the same time.

Hell if I know, they're all just puzzled I reckon. Fuel pump was replaced during rebuild about 143k back...sure don't want that sucker going kaboom and taking out the whole engine.

You are up to speed about the fuelpumps.

About the DPF...........how many$$$ for baking it and how many $$$ for a new one?
Some argue that the new one is worth a little extra $$$ because the baked ones sometimes give trouble.
    But you need to ask.;)

I paid a bunch of money for SCR misdiagnosis and repairs. If you're going to tackle one part of it, you might want to get a few of the others out of the way. I'd suggest getting a service manual for your truck, then watching as many videos as you possibly can about the system. Even other model engines and delete videos can give you a good idea of what you're looking at.

You should be able to replace bolt on items like the 7th injector, DEF filter on pump, DEF doser valve, NOx sensors yourself. Cleaning out the flex pipes and stuff should be the same deal. I think the aftertreatment control module might have to be programmed if you replace it, so it wouldn't be plug and play. The EGR cooler I would hold off on unless there's a reason to think it's blocked up or leaking.

Check your fuses and relays, make sure they're all there. I'm pretty sure someone took our trailer brake relay to replace the DEF heater relay with, and never bothered to replace the empty spot.
