Keep us posted on your approximate arrival time, @Broke Down 69 .... and let us know how your papaw is doing. My mom is hanging in at the home; stopped by to see her on my way home this morning. I think she's loving the attention, actually; more than we could give, anyway! One day at a time. I'm finally securing my footing....again.

Drove through massive thunderstorms and tornado warnings but I'm at Muranos in Chicago now. Looks like I'll have to wait until 1900 tomorrow yo reload. Very disappointed in how dispatch has handled this. Be interested to see how they would feel if their Dad was in the hospital and they were forced to wait 10 days to see him. I easily could be home right now but I'm not. Forces a man to really think about things.

    More later...

Like you said , some things we can't control and then it all drops out. But when that happens with time I always fall back on split logging. It has helped me out many times. If I need to be somewhere and I'm being loaded/unloaded and time is dragging out before I dart out of there I will look at my clock. If I have 20 minutes left to get 2 hours in I will set then do a split log on my now 8 hour break coming up if needed. And as you say I can be useful in moving you clock to a more favorable time.

I thought you were an O/O? Just put it in the wind if you want?

    Your empty right?

If I WANT to do something I just let the carrier know it and I boogie.

Do you think it’s a problem because your pulling there trailer or because they tote the note on your truck?

I commend you for being responsible and a (Company Man) but they could drag you around the country for weeks before you get to go home!!! I sometimes get sucked into doing things I shouldn’t for my carrier to but when I’m out I’m out! Nothing they can do about it?

My father passed in a blink of the eye.

I know what he would’ve told me. Are you a doctor? No? Do your work, but you make sure you get to see me.

You’ve done that driver. Go see your dad, even if it’s for a couple of hours. You make that happen. Closure is a huge thing I’ll never get. One of the last things he said to me was “I want to talk to you about something.” The amount of money I’d pay for that conversation is ridiculous.

I ran for about 5 mos under another companies authority while I was getting my feet wet and transitioning towards owner operator status.

I had purchased my own truck and leased on. However, I was pulling their contract customer's freight in their trailer.

There was one occasion where the dm jerked me around on my notification to get home. She didn't deliver, so, I dropped their empty trailer, in their drop yard in L.A. and bob-tailed home 700 miles for Christmas on my own dime, my choice.

Heck, even when I was a company driver at Market Transport, where I only lasted 4 mos because of a jerk dm, I emptied my truck in their corporate yard and threw the keys on his desk because he tried to jerk me around on my Thanksgiving holiday time off.

Time off which had been approved and agreed to previously...

I don't do too well suffering fools who have for the most part never sat behind the wheel of a big rig and have had to deal with the rigors of life on the road, away from home and family.

They get to home every night, get a hot meal, spend time with their family, etc. All the while, lacking (for whatever reason I don't care) the focus & ability at times to follow through with simple requests to get home.

All this to say is the reason why I got my own numbers, equipment, etc, and do my own thing! LOL

When this all began unfolding, I was under a Cali load. I sent a message in and it was missed...read, ignored, in my opinion. Evidently, the only place products from California are shipped to is Chicago...now I'm getting pretty pissed off. In Chicago, the only products shipping into the Southeast, are.loaded 30 hours after I get empty. Seriously pissed off. Now I'm going to have one of their trailers tied up in NC for who knows how long, when they could have relayed this load off of me and I could have flown home two days ago.

    What a #### show.

Right now there are 22 posted loads Refer/Van in the L.A. area to your part of the country in N.C. Come tomorrow morning, there will probably be 75 to 100 posted loads going in that direction.

You got circled jerked and it wasn't even pleasurable.
