CRST tried to get me to train after 6 months and I told them no. I also told them no after a year. Now I'm with a different company and two and a half years under my belt.

I've mostly run teams. Looking back I realize that I had to teach many of my co-drivers a lot of stuff. My last one was so bad that I'm sure he'd make a newbie look like a seasoned professional. I got rid of him and decided to become a trainer. If I can teach at least one newbie to be a decent driver I will feel good.

BTW, I don't think you can teach a newbie everything in the short training period. What I hope to do is teach them how to THINK like a trucker.

This was probably already caught, but:

The highlighted part right there is proof you are not ready to train. Unless it is a typo...

Drives heavy and you moved the tandems back? That adds more weight to the drives!

You are not liable for being "overweight" while driving to the nearest scale. Sometimes that nearest scale is in the opposite direction of the receiver. It does not say "CAT scale" either. In your case the nearest scale was at the shipper. You chose to drive illegally. I don't recommend you teach others to do that.

Well, I think that was his exact point. He isn't fully knowledgeable yet and had admitted to making a few mistakes out there still. Nothing wrong with that. At least he is honest and when he feels he is ready I'm sure he will give her a go.

yes i correct my post. i mean i have 45000 on the rear axle and i had to put it all the way back. but still. i should have scale right aways.

anyways i am a solo driver for now , i considered all your advice and i thanks you all. i am goin to stay solo until i have 18 months and then i will probably go for it.

i would feel so bad to teach something wrong to a new driver.

    thanks
