I have been thinking about this for quite some time. When I started driving back in 1988 and please don't be offended I'm not bragging by any means how long I've been driving. Anyway when I first started driving, truck driving was a brotherhood people flashed their lights signaling its okay to move over, and when a person moved over they in turn flashed their marker lights to say thank you.I noticed over the years that the Brotherhood has faded away. I know they teach new drivers not to flash their lights in school, but a thank you flash or putting on you flashers for a few blinks would be nice. Also if a driver broke down in the past other drivers would offer their assistance on the cb or stop to help. But what really ticks me off is other truck drivers that are in a hurry cutting me off... its happening more and more, or am I alone? So new and seasoned drivers, please be courteous and professional. When one truck driver drives like a jerk we ALL look bad!
be courteous and professional

It's called the I...ME ...generation...if you'll listen real close when they are having a conversation, they always think they know everything there is to know about trucking....and never have hardly any experience to back that "knowledge" up.....That is probably the single most important reason I'm glad I'm retired...that and deer & turkey hunting of course....bad-luck it's a cross any seasoned driver must bear Man...you can't fix stupid!

I agree, wait your talking about the baby boomer generation right. Raised by the greatest generation in history, goes on to hand us the american we see today.
I'm a new driver and always flash over drivers and say thanks. I wholeheartedly agree with the original post.Tonythetruckerdude, pattyj, Homemade1959 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Stop and help anyone today and it will likely end up as a 911 call or a lawsuit, most motorists view us as the CRAZED MORONS in the GOOFY MOVIES about truckers.
vikingswen, Moz_, blairandgretchen and 2 others Thank this. -
here we go again.....
"no one flashes their headlites anymore." "no one stops for other drivers anymore" "people flash their bright lites, they shouldn't do that". "people who block the pumps for 45 minutes".
Been down that road many times around here, nothing changes.
I'd say be the best driver that you can be, and let the others do what they're going to do, and not let it bother you.jeepnut_nh, Dinomite, Ed G and 12 others Thank this. -
Maybe the moods can merge this thread with one of the million other identical rants already on here..
Wingnut1, AXE, Dinomite and 1 other person Thank this. -
Congrats on your retirement. I don't listen to the cb other than to find out about traffic the scales or directions
Tonythetruckerdude Thanks this. -
Im not ranting just asking drivers to be courteous and professional. .... your statement makes me think that YOU are one of the nonprofessional noncourteous drivers. ...
Moz_ Thanks this. -
All I was trying to accomplish was that maybe just maybe someone would read this and think twice about being an a $$&*!#. But from the responses im reading that's not going to happen. ....blairandgretchen Thanks this.
