You're correct Joero...I'm sort of an old military weapons collector..been doing it for over 40 years...the bottom rifle is an 1861 training piece half sized to train kids/students in military schools , it's a .32 caliber patch and ball gun with a rear hammer trigger assembly...very unique since , there were only a few hundred ever produced. They were used at West point mostly , then later used at the Citadel for a brief time. I go to several auctions a year and when this came-up I knew I had to have it....bought it in the early 80's and the wife still doesn't know exactly what I paid for it......I try not to remind myself of it either!

Thanks badluck. I really don't know why everyone is jumping ugly on you. I think this stuff needs repeating regularly. Shoot, maybe hourly given our selfish world.
Will it change, probably not, but how fast will the decline be if we all just give up and don't talk about it. I don't think I'd be very happy with myself if I just gave up.
I think the negative folks may be jumping on you because they themselves have given up the common courtesies and are feeling a little bad about it.
Help a motorist change a tire, or a fellow trucker fold his tarps. You can't buy that feeling of knowing you did something good and unselfish. Personally I try and do a good deed like this daily and I won't stop just because most people have.Crossroads, bad-luck and Tonythetruckerdude Thank this. -
Shoot yeah man...with that size ball they don't run.....but that pic was taken on "The Battery" in Charleston SC....we were there for the opening of the CMH museum at Patriot's Point , a very humbling week end. Brought back lots of memories for me.....
heres a couple more pics from there.....
wonderful week-end I was so glad and honored to be invited to attend....CondoCruiser, rocknroll81 and bergy Thank this. -
Exactly...doing the "right thing" is never ever the wrong thing to do...doesn't cost a single penny to give of yourself , and help someone out....it's true you reap what you sew....it really is. I'm living proof of that!bad-luck, Joetro, bergy and 1 other person Thank this.

I am, too, Tony. I have two of the 2A1s and a few each of No.1 MkIII and No.4. I also have several Mausers from various countries and, as does everyone, a few Mosins, among others. The pic was blurry enough that all I was going by was the stock on that trainer, although, had I been able to see it clearly, I probably still wouldn't have known what it was, LOL.

I have a daughter and I always taught her to leave people better than she found them. Now my kid is 12 and she wont go through a check out line without giving a kind word or compliment to the clerk. You should see them brighten up!
Sure the world sucks at times, but I'm glad she is willing to try to make it better. Maybe more of us need to make a bigger effort. Or maybe I should have taught her it was hopeless?Tonythetruckerdude, TripleSix, Mr Ed and 1 other person Thank this. -
I try to do the courteous thing everywhere I am. When I park, drive or fuel, I try to make sure I'm professional and whatever it is I'm doing isn't negatively impacting someone else. That's how I was taught years ago.bergy, tinytim and Tonythetruckerdude Thank this.

I agree that courtesy has gone by the wayside. All you can do is be the best you can and lead by example. You want to pass my limited truck? NP, I'll tap the button down a mph or 2 to help you out and make it quicker. I'll let you know when you're clear of the 6 second zone with my lights (never brights). Cut me off, I'll grumble to myself and remind you to leave space for a Yugo next time over the CB. Just because I'm polite doesn't mean I'll be walked on...

But it has to be outside the truck too. I still call the waitress "ma'am", say please and thank you. You should see the extra service I generally get at the diners. Odd part is, folks around me see the courteous behavior and start acting better. -
Wish the holiday season was every day of the yr,thats the only time you're going to find polite and courteous ppl.Come day after Christmas everybody is back to there mean nasty all about me attitudes.
bergy Thanks this.
