KS permits are not expensive but for superloads they require front and rear escort for every mile traveled and the is expensive
I avoid Kansas when possible - so if I remember correctly the permits are good for 3 days or it could be 5 days
It from the time you order it - they will wait 3 business days(minimum) before they issueRazororange and Oxbow Thank this. -
Wyoming is funny. I was missing some paperwork and the Cheyenne POE said I could have it faxed to them. My office doesn't have a fax, and they couldn't believe that my office could be so behind the times, that it didn't have a fax! And here I'm thinking, didn't faxing go out in the early 90's? They said I could email it to them though. Only problem was, nobody there knew what the email address was..1951 ford, PeteyFixAll, passingthru69 and 6 others Thank this.

We try to get the pilot cars to be on scene when we think we will be ready to roll out. Permits are harder to get than pilot cars so permits are ordered first. A lot depends on the commodity. Crane appointment? Bet on noon at the earliest. Tarp job involved too? Schedule a full day just to load. If I am sitting and waiting and pilots are sitting and waiting too, something has gone terribly wrong...
I'd wager that most of us carry office machines around in the truck. Shippers, like Keen, charge for faxes. Th truckstops want $1/page. Keen wants $5/permit. A 3n1 printer pays for itself instantly.Big_Red, 1951 ford, passingthru69 and 10 others Thank this. -
Do all your loads require pilot? What do you haul?

I got a $35 all in one printer from wally world several years ago. Loaded at a place last summer next to a guy who had to find an out of the way place to drop trailer and bobtail all over creation to get faxed permits. This is after having to drop the trailer before loading to go buy a bunch of moving blankets to wrap before tarping.
Amateur. Time is money. I thought everyone knew that.1951 ford, PeteyFixAll, rank and 9 others Thank this. -
I used to haul wind blade. Needed 2 pilots in most places, police in metro areas. There aren't many quick easy answers in OSOW, other than, 'everything depends on the dimensions of the load and what State/Province you're in.'1951 ford, PeteyFixAll, noluck and 3 others Thank this.

Faxed? With wireless printers having the ability to print from a smart phone. Faxes at $2 a page should only be used in emergency.1951 ford, spyder7723, noluck and 1 other person Thank this.

I'm not smart phone savvy I didn't know you can fax from a smart phone.

+1. The absolute worst is having to shutdown on the outskirts because of a 4:00 - 6:00 curfew in the winter. The AM curfew is from 7:00 - 9:00 and the sunrise isn't until 7:00.1951 ford, PeteyFixAll, passingthru69 and 3 others Thank this.
